Running radar on Braddock @ Fairfax County Parkway

After lunch, I was attempting to speed back to work, going east on Braddock. As usual, the there were two cars driving 40mph right next to each other, preventing other drivers from passing them. Unfortunately, this is all too typical for Braddock Road, but I digress.
As I was going under the first overpass span, I noticed a police officer standing behind the green sign up on the overpass (1) running radar and checking the speed of east bound Braddock traffic. Luckily, I was only traveling 40.
Then, further down Braddock, I noticed an unmarked suburban all murdered out on that frontage road that you pass on the left (2).
I would assume that the officer in position 1 would determine speed, and relay that info to the officer in location 2, and then that second officer would issue a ticket.
My question; Isn’t the officer who was holding the radar suppose to issue the ticket? I think I recall hearing a story about someone getting out of a ticket in a similar situation. What if the car wasn’t described correctly and what if the wrong driver was ticketed?? There seems to be too much room for human error…

What is the purpose of the frontage road (2)? Is that built for some future residential development?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I always appreciate the update as to what 'Jonny Law' is up to. I get on the Parkway there at Braddock everyday, and I deal with those Cock-blockin', 40mph Fuckers everyday, too!

You could always say that there were two of the same type of car...It does happen.

I've been at lights in FFX where one car of the same color and approxmate year was just ahead of me, and one of the same type and similar color was right behind or next to me. Who is the cop to know which one is which.

I'm pretty sure the cop has to physically loose sight of your car for that argument to work, and then your flirting with 'avading'.

Amen. I fucking hate that there. Pass and get over. How fucking hard is that. It's chronic on two-lane roads across the area, but I deal with that literally all times of day and night at that particular spot.

You assume too much.

Doesn't have to. Frequently police work in teams for speed enforcement.

Probably, but if that were true, Virginia's legendary aerial speed enforcement (with police aircraft http://farm1.static.flickr.com/51/170043315_81c2f972ea.jpg ) would never result in a ticket...unless the pilot landed just to write you a ticket.

That program, btw, has been put on hold due to the budget 'crisis'

What's so legendary about it?
