Give us money or else. And don't ask about accountability. That's the message from Fairfax County Public Schools to its citizens.

FCPS released its battle plan today, which is long on expensive propaganda and short on facts. High quality videos and calls on citizens to attack their local and state representatives are just some of the targeted efforts intended to swing the battles their way.

Using the battle cry of "Save FCPS," the leaders of our school system will attempt to scare residents with threats of lowered property values (but not corresponding lower taxes) and overcrowded classrooms.

The school board has deployed Superintendent Karen Garza to proclaim this message: I can no longer propose cuts, because by doing so, the implication is that I believe that cuts are appropriate, and they are simply not. A quality education is not a luxury, it is an absolute necessity. Garza will be repeating this message in a series of speeches dubbed a "listening tour."

That means no cost savings to be realized in lower fuel costs, online textbooks and distance learning, buyouts of expensive employees, or plummeting technology prices. Despite predicting no growth in students (difficult to believe) projected costs are significantly up.

1) Eric Jensen

2) Flip Flippen

3) Boosterthon

4) Tara Brach

5) Buck Institute

6) Conferences in Orlando, Nashville, New Orleans, etc.

7) Transgender bathrooms (how many transgender students are there?)

8) Tara Brach and the "mindfulness project" (whatever it really is)

9) Meals at Sea Pearl, Mortons, etc. (many cheaper places available)

This is the tip of the FCPS iceberg. Rest assured much more money is being wasted elsewhere.

I admit that I hate FCPS. It'd a miserable failure. That's why my kid is in private school, where lowlife niggers and spics are nowhere to be seen. No gang problems, no drug problems.

Christ, not you again. Your lame schtick has gotten old. If 'much more money is being wasted elsewhere' (and it well may be), then tell us where. Focusing on piddly shit (meals, really?) and non-existent issues (bathrooms - face it, you just hate transgendered people) is not convincing.

I don't think too many people really believe FCPS can't find anything to cut. The truth is they don't WANT to cut.

I'd be interested in seeing FCPS report on these consultants they hire. I'd like to see, for each consultant receiving over $10,000 in a year, a minimum of one page on their qualifications, what competitive analysis was done in selecting this particular consultant, and, most importantly, how paying the consultant contributed to FCPS. As part of this, I'd like to see what it is the consultant offers that FCPS does not already have.

After I see this, I might be more sympathetic. But as it is, I look at accounts of these people getting $9,000 a day and $10,000 to give a speech, of people with online degrees, of "studies" that turn out to be publicity pieces and so on and I just can't help but think SOME of it could easily be dispensed with.

Don't anyone out there try to tell me that this kind of thing is not behind some of the spending that FCPS has become famous for all over the world…

Was Ok.ing the School Board to be elected. As far as them getting taxing authority. They can Go to Hell! The BOS is not school unfriendly at all. They simply have to look out for everyone in FXCO.
