It assumes that wisdom, education and wealth are passed down cumulatively throughout the generations, just because somone one's ancestors weren't recently enslaved (within the past 150 years) and that they were born into an English speaking family or were born in the US, etc.
I believe group think or dwelling on one's disadvantages or perceived disadvantages holds one back more than anything.

It's really hard to argue the black/white privilege when the real problem is social and economic (i.e. CLASS) privilege.
I see so many minorities in Fairfax County with great educations, great jobs and making a lot more money and being a much much more successful than the average white person in the poor rural county I grew up in. For those dirt poor white folks struggling to make a living it is confusing to be told they are privileged and the wealthy black family driving the Mercedes and paying their kids way through college with cash is really oppressed.
I see so many minorities in Fairfax County with great educations, great jobs and making a lot more money and being a much much more successful than the average white person in the poor rural county I grew up in. I thought that video was simplistic and kind of stupid, but I don't have a problem using it as a springboard for discussion on the topic of race. Having said that, elementary students are awfully young to weigh in on the subject.

I am white, not sure how this makes be "privileged".
I went to school, worked reasonably hard, did nothing illegal, did not do drugs or hang around on the street corner drinking Schlitz Malt Liquor from a can in a bag, did not sell drugs, did not rob or steal, did not shot anyone, did not go on welfare or expect the government or programs to prop me up, did to father multiple kids out of wedlock (at least that I was aware of), listened to and respected authority.
So how does this make me "privileged".
I consider it using my head and working for a living, not be "privileged".
As far as I am concerned this is all about choice, anyone can do what I did regardless of their skin color or ethnic background.

Could be wrong, but I don't think the intent of the video was so much to say that white people are privileged, but that black people are disadvantaged in different ways. I don't particularly agree with that sentiment, but the point could be argued. Sadly, black people are sometimes their own worst enemies. In any case, videos like this tend to encourage resentment more than raise awareness.

What exactly is the issue with it? This is history? Slavery did happen. Racial profiling does exist. Whites did get a huge head start. There is no generational wealth in black/minority communities. The generations before were slaves! There is no one to flip the bill for college when the parents dont make enough. No rich grand dad. No where does it say in that video to say woe is me and you owe me. The video even depicts the two runners continuing to run regardless of what is out in front of them. Isn't school for teaching kids history and facts? If you dont like your history and you dont want your kids seeing it then maybe you should make sure that YOUR history when it is taught will not embarrass the next generation and this debate wont need to happen.

I'm a self employed technician and visit houses all over this area. I can't tell you how many minorities (including blacks) have nicer homes, bigger homes than i do. Seems like they are doing pretty well. If there is some kind of 'white privelge' .. well where do i sign up?

Applying after 40 years working and paying into S.S. 1/3 were black 1/4 Spanish 1/3 white some others but no Asians seen. Of all there 1/3 were of "age" to draw S.S. Dude, you are so off base here.
I know MANY first generation families that have come to the US with no family, no generational wealth, not even speaking the language.
They have busted their ass, learned English, went to night school, worked multiple jobs and they have prospered and raised families that have been successful.
These are some of the most patriotic and true Americans that I know. They even look down on the Black and Hispanic community that flounder in their poverty and do nothing to make their lives better. As my friends have told me, they overcame the obstacles and made their lives better. As they said, if they can do it, anyone can do it.

Dude, you are so off base here.
I know MANY first generation families that have come to the US with no family, no generational wealth, not even speaking the language.
They have busted their ass, learned English, went to night school, worked multiple jobs and they have prospered and raised families that have been successful.
These are some of the most patriotic and true Americans that I know. They even look down on the Black and Hispanic community that flounder in their poverty and do nothing to make their lives better. As my friends have told me, they overcame the obstacles and made their lives better. As they said, if they can do it, anyone can do it.

Last I was aware, most black athletes are superior runners then white runners as well.
