Are any of you on Fi?

Was with AT&T forever. The coverage is generally good in the metro DC area. But I feel like I was living under a rock. My co-worker was talking about Project Fi by Google. I had never heard of it before. I switched last week. It's pretty badass. It's $20/mo unlimited talk and text, and then $10/month per gig of data. If you connect to wifi all the time, it's a great deal. Here's something pretty cool: If you sign up for the 3gb plan and only use 2gb, you get a $10 refund rather than rolling over the data.

Check it out...

It's not fake and I'm not being paid. I'm sorry I shared with you. You may now continue to overpay for cellular service. Have a nice day.

Your prompt response only backs up my suspicions.

No, I just happen to be tooling around on here catching up on the screwed up drama and read the stupid "no school tomorrow" posts. You gave a pretty quick response to my response. So I should assume that you are fake?

Google fi works well. It bounces to whatever cell signal is strongest. You can also talk via wifi and connect to open public wifi safely because it's encrypted and launches a vpn automatically.

thanks for the post. I've been wondering if Fi is any good in this area. Fuck the troll who is giving you trouble, OP. This is obviously not an ad.

Works out to be more expensive than my grandfathered ATT unlimited.

If you stay on WiFi a lot and don't use much data then it may be a deal.

Yeah...Google Fi got the concept from Republic Wireless who's been doing this for awhile now. I've had RW for about two years. I paid $25/month for unlimited wifi and up to 5gigs of data. They changed their plan to a rebate structure and now it's $10 for a base plan and $15 for each additional gig with a rebate back to you for whatever data you bought but didn't use.

I regularly use under 1G of cellular data a month (b/c I'm pretty much on wifi everywhere I go) so I only pay $10 plus the portion of the $15 I use so...roughly $17.50/month.

These plans only work for people who are able to connect to wifi regularly. If you're on the road a lot or work in a building where you don't have wifi access, this type of plan isn't for you.

Yup. It works great. Too bad when I joined the only phone available was the huge Nexus 6. Still, bought the phone from Amazon, applied all updates, put in Fi SIM, got Fi app and was done. I average 1gb per month, so bill is $20/mo, minus whatever credit I get from prev month.

I will get a Nexus 5X and join Fi as soon as my Droid Turbo bites the dust and/or my Verizon account is up for renewal. The 5X is almost as good as the Turbo but smaller and a lot less expensive.

Verizon let me out of my contract, they are doing it for everyone because they are losing market share since everyone is starting to hate them.
I love the fi but I miss my Galaxy s4. There were areas of my house that my Verizon signal was weak but Now that I have fi I just talk or text over my wifi and have landline-like voice quality. I bought my nexus 5x from best buy and bought a protection plan from them, if I drop my phone in the shitter they give me a new or refurbished one.
Last month my cell bill was 27 dollars. I dont love the LG phone but we were paying 175 a month to verizon for 3 phones and now we are paying about 100 (including the protection plan from best buy) with much better service.
Thats 900 bucks a year savings.
Verizon is going to have to match the fi deal or go under. Surely they have a plan in the works.

Fi is the shit. I paid 350 up front for the phone. now 20 bucks a month for phone and text. I use wifi for data, but I can log in and buy data if I ever need it for 10 bucks a gig.
Voice over wifi is crystal clear.

How do you use such little data a month? My Verizon phone will use a gig at night while I'm sleeping sometimes. I easily use 12 to 15 gb a month and my wife averages about 8 to 10gb a month and we use WiFi when at home.

How is it possible to only use 1 to 2 gb a month?

If you let google track all your cell activity then you're an idiot.

I use 2g - 3gb a month.

At home and work my phone is connected to wifi.

A gig a night? You downloading a movie?! My phone makes me get connected to wifi if I want to download any large update or app.
