Local police are pretty good at issuing traffic summonses.

How good are they when it comes to solving serious felonies?

Can any posters here think of any unsolved murders and serious felonies?

Back in the 1960's a guy got shot one Sunday night in Kings Park when his family was getting ready to retire for the evening.

I think he was military or something like that. He had two sons atttending Frost at the time.

Nobody was ever charged.

There is another which comes to mind.

A girl was missing for years.

Her body was later found in western Fairfax.

She had been murdered.

The name was Fitzjohn or Fitz something.

There was that triple murder in Springfield right before Thanksgiving of 2008. Haven't heard a lick about it since the day it happened. I guess if it was three white people who were stabbed FCPD might have worked the case a little harder. Or maybe they are ignoreing it because one of the victims was a contractor who hired day laborers and the county doesn't like to police the immigrant communities.

There is no revenue generated by solving homicide cases. FCPD is a business too.

You're right, and when more people die, the government can swoop in and collect estate taxes. Except for 2010 when the Federal estate tax is phased out completely for one year.

That was the case when someone showed up in police garb or something like that.

I always wondered if some rogue cops were in on the homicides.

Hey dummy, Fairfax County has one of the highest closure rates for murders in the entire country. Plus they have cold case dudes who lock people up too for old murders. be glad you live here and not in some other places. POlice aren't going to tell us what they are doing on murders so go back to sleep.

What is the closure rate?

Murders, yes.

Bank robberies, hell no. We have more bank robberies here than downtown richmond.

I'd have to say FFX Police are better than most at closing some of their cold cases. At least they have people working on them....

Cold Case murders are the hardest to solve, you just submit some old DNA, and wait for the results. Eventually you get Leroy, who is in jail somewhere on other charges to confess. Quite difficult I must say.

Dario, get out of you Moms basement and read the paper once inawhile. DNA cases are now maing alot of murders and other crimes but DNA lone won't convict somone i think. Be happy they are locking up bad guys however they are doing it.

Really?? do you know now much your estate has to be worth before the government (federal or state) can collect taxes ?? you are a dumbass.......

No idea, sorry. My knowledge is broad and vast, but not too deep in any one given area. Please enlighten me.

Virginia State Trooper Johnny Rush Bowman was stabbed to death in the doorway of his manassas home in August of 1984.

The case is still unsolved even though an 'arrest was imminent' over 20 years ago.

What happened to the former member of the Virginia State Police who was a suspect in this case?

Last I heard he was working as a tow truck driver.

Is he still a suspect?

The Washington Post had an article this week (online) about police officers being investigated for ties to drugs and high stakes gambling.

Supposedly men were seen around the time of the Ravensworth murders in police garb. They allegedly drove vehicles with Maryland tags.

Is there a connection between the gambling and the Springfield murders?

Not yet solved, 14 yr old girl murdered in Chantilly at her home in 1979, 30 yrs ago. Police say they know who killed her, but can't prove it. Why not? Did the police messed up the original investigation 30yrs ago? Somebody still needs to come forward!

I knew that Andy kid from high school, supposedly it was drug related. Some guys dressed up as cops, gained access that way, then stabbed all 3 to death.

yeah it was drug related, but the cars did have MD plates.

I will give you buck if you can go one day with leaving race out of any given subject.

Tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of the death of Jonbenet Ramsey. There's going to be a massive burst of internet traffic by 50-70 year old women commemorating this event.

The cops who aren't fags are either bullies or straight-out criminals. True, there are some good ones, but the bad ones give the other 5% a bad name.

I think the closest they ever got was a confession from a guy in prison who said he thinks her body was buried behind a rest stop off I-95. There was a suspect who was most likely the killer except they never got enough evidence to prove it was him.

Melissa's remains were never found. I think she was kidnapped and she is now a doctor. I could be wrong but the picture looks like its possible.

She completed a pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC and a fellowship in critical care medicine at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Dr. Brannen has also obtained her master’s in education from the University of Cincinnati. Currently, her works in education center around curriculum design, teamwork and leadership, as well as comprehension/decision-making as individuals and teams. She is active in medical student education and post-graduate education as a mentor, advisor and facilitator of small group work.

Well this is easy to prove/disprove, just need a DNA test run.
