Annoying radio commercials
Posted by: Marconi's nightmare ()
Date: February 01, 2016 12:45PM

I often listen to the radio, especially late at night and am growing tired of the the following annoying ads:

1.Kars for Kids. That annoying child like piano throughout the ad drive me crazy.

2. Big Brothers and Sisters. These are the ads that say: "My name is Sue Smith, and I'm a graphic designer..." The ad then goes back in time when the person was younger and struggling with her life until Big Brothers and Sisters rescued them.

3. Optimum Tax Relief. Currently this spot seems to be played CONSTANTLY on some stations. It's the one that says: "I'm Alan Thicke, if you owe the IRS back taxes..." This company even KNOWS the ads are annoying since one of them even talks about how we are probably sick of hearing the ad!

I agree that Kars for Kids is the one seed for annoying radio ads.

They may be a fine organization but I would never use them just because I hate the commercial so much.

Oh yeah another one I thought of is for Dominion Jewelry. They have several ads with a similar theme, a guy buying an engagement or wedding ring. He's talking with some other guy co-worker and then this other female co-worker who's been evesdropping on the conversation puts her two-cents in about going to Dominion Jewelry to pick out a ring. She has this very raspy, two-packs a day of Marlboro Reds sounding voice.

Only when I want to hear just how fucked up the traffic is do I listen. However, the first few piano notes of Kars 4 Kids jingle triggers a turn off the radio reflex and any one of those motherfuckers where they repeat a telephone number more than once.
I would deliberately avoid any and all of their products or services regardless, due that annoying shit.
Really though, there is no regular radio station worth listening to in this area anyway.

True story: many years ago, we had a Radio Shack "robot" in the computer room at work. It monitored temp, power, noise, etc., and would call a set of programmed numbers if any alerts were triggered. When you answered such a call, you could enter 1 (or something) to say "OK, I got it" and it would stop calling.

90% of the times it tripped were due to noise from someone leaving the lid up on the impact printer while it printed something. When it did trip due to noise, and you answered the phone, it would tell you 'NOISE LEVEL IS HIGH' and then 'LISTEN TO THE NOISE LEVEL FOR TEN SECONDS', at which point it would turn on its microphone and you'd usually hear people going "What's that?" "Shit, the robot tripped!" "I told you not to leave the lid up..." and like that. (The rest were equal parts power outage and A/C problems, making the room hot.)

Since we needed it to work even when power was out, the phone line it was connected to was the only hard-wired line in the office: the rest were on a PBX. There was also an old wall phone plugged into the line. The weird thing was, that phone rang a LOT. Like, way more than even our house phone rings nowadays with telemarketing calls--and those were rare back then. Since the phone was in the back of the data center, we'd rarely get to it in time, and when we did, either the caller would hang up or say "Sorry, wrong number". The mystery continued.

Until one night I was driving home around 2AM and listening to the radio, and an ad for a suicide hotline came on. I wasn't really listening until I realized they were saying "...so call 301-555-1234" -- and the robot phone line was *703*-555-1234! This was back when you could dial a 703 number without the area code.

So here's some poor soul in the pits of despair, gets it together enough to call but forgets the are code, and gets the robot:
THIS IS TELEPHONE NUMBER 703 555 1234. THE POWER IS ON. THE TEMPERATURE IS 72 DEGREES. THE NOISE LEVEL IS OK.

I almost drove off the road laughing!

Hey, at least it wasn't Nike customer service -- "Just do it!"

Chris fucking Core is the one reason that I stopped tuning to WTOP occasionally for traffic or weather reports years ago. He sounds so fake, one might think he would advertise for Tampons if they paid him enough.

Radio show personnel should be barred from paid commercials that air on their stations. Isn't that a conflict of interest?

An authentic regional accent is actually kind of refreshing with all the eardrum-assaulting "valley girl" females on the air. How in the hell did that California accent get so prevalent here -- mostly among females but some males have it as well.

Two that I hate: one with an annoying scraping sound. Turns out it's the sound of scraping leftovers into the trash. I click on mute when this comes on.

The other is supposed to be a boy and his grandfather out doing errands, and they stop in the LED light store. The first time you hear it, it's OK, but KSFO plays it over and over and over again. Sometimes 4 times in succession.

Apparently the advertisers don't get it. If you put your ad in our ears more than once a day, we get annoyed.

Patrick Fingle of Nu Look Home Design took my advice from last year and spent the extra bucks to have someone else voice his commercials. Thank God.

I hate just about every single commercial where the owner voices the commercials (Dave Snell, Drs McMillan and Dr Ruperalia/two separate sedation dentists, The Farm Table guy, the I grew up in Annapolis and so know security company guy, Brian Wilson Wilson Realty and worst of the worst is Elaine Mick of Cabinet Discounters).

Special corner of hell reserved for the Depression therapy commercials. Puts me in a depression, especially with the cackling voiced old lady who says, "I had serious depression" and her voice warbles and quakes.

And yes, I listen to wmal all day long. Breaks up my boring day at work.

"Kars 4 Kids" is a Jewish scam, The "charity" it benefits is a Jewish charity known as "Oorah," which has a stated mission of "to give Jewish children and their families opportunities to connect with their Jewish heritage and traditions," whatever the fuck that means. Of course they don't mention that in their commercials and make it seem as if they are feeding starving American children, but that's not the case. It receives Charity Navigator's "poor" rating of one out of a possible four stars.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kars4Kids

"Donations to Kars4Kids benefit the Oorah (Joy for Our Youth, or J.O.Y.), a national organization with a stated goal of addressing the "educational, material, emotional and spiritual needs of Jewish children and their families",[10] and whose mission, according to CharityWatch, appears to be "to persuade secular Jewish families to take on a more Orthodox Jewish lifestyle."[5]"

So, a typical jewish scam, stealing from the goy and giving to the kike.

Radio commercials aren't a serious issue. After all, you can just switch to another channel. What's more annoying is telephone spam. I get SMS 2-3 times a week. Once I got a spam message from Japan. I found it out by a phone code https://areaphonecodes.com/japan/

Hmm that's weird. If SMS marketing is done properly, it is not annoying. I would really love this idea of starting this kind of promotion. Although if you ask me as a customer, I simply hate it when someone sends me unwanted SMS. More I hate only unwanted calls.

If you ask me, I would rather prefer email marketing, not SMS marketing. Recently I read a great article about automated lead generation and if you follow their tips on correct email communication, you will be able to grow your prospect audience much faster. And this will never be something that will need unwanted calling or any other difficult methods. People will like what you have to say!
