Homes in Greenbriar and Brookfield

Why did they built the homes in Greenbriar and Brookfield without basements? I heard various stories about the ground was too hard and so many rocks.
Anyone with a solid answer??

Who knows?

Cost less. Other homes in the same area have basements.

Are you saying none of the homes in Greenbriar have basements?

Ugghh those are horrible areas to dig, the ground is bad. Don't even think about digging around there.

massive radon belt through there. you would need a gas mask to excavate there. it is ironic because greenbriar was built during the cold war when everyone was digging bunkers into their front yard.

Not sure about Brookfield, but Greenbriar sits on a huge granite deposit. When they came in a couple of years ago to redo the gas lines they were only able to dig down about three feet before the hit solid rock. We are actually exempt from radon testing because of the fact that we sit on top of a granite slab and therefore do not have to worry about radon.
