Missing Cat - Bradley Farms/Fox Mill Area
Posted by: Melissa ()
Date: June 30, 2009 11:53PM

I know a few people live in the Fox Mill area. If you see a flame point Himalayan (white with orange tail and ears) wandering around, would you please let me know? My cat is missing, is 13, and has never been outside before.

Thanks.

Trolls, please save the dead cat pictures. It's predictable.

We actually had this happen recently to our cat (who is also an indoors cat). It took a hike for two days and was totally missing. We figured it was gone or a fox got it. One morning, the cat showed up at the front door wanting to be let in like it had pulled a Mark Sanford.

If you're really freaked out (and I have NO idea if this worked, but he returned the day after we did it), put out trails of catnip leading to the house. Maybe the cat will follow it.

That actually has a 95 percent chance of working
Great idea!

Just ignore the original poster, she is an alias for a troll that has been here for years. There is no cat, he or she just wants to get a reaction out of people.

I can certify this to be untrue.

That's a good idea -- I will have to try it. I put food and water out front, and hope he shows up. Years ago, another cat did a vanishing act in the middle of winter and ended up curled in cushions on the back deck. She was sick, so her wandering wasn't too surprising. She died shortly after. This cat, on the other hand, is 13 but healthy as a horse. There are a lot of foxes in the area and we are near the woods, so I hope a bigger, badder kitty or a fox didn't get him. He was raised with dogs, so he's not too timid around other animals, but not aggressive at all. What a crappy week this has been.

Dont worry about other cats. I'm more concerned about foxes. If they're hungry enough or if they're sick of if kitty is in a vulnerable spot (an the kitty isn't too big), a fox will consider trying to take a cat.

Id consider laying out your cat nip "bread crumb" trails later in the evening - after the rain falls and tamps down scent trails.

They eventually will come back, happened to me as a kid on 2 occasions. They have insticts and aren't human... just may take a day or 2 before they kick in.

Putting butter on the cat's butt has 100% chance.

please what are "insticts" - insects - probably if they have been out all night

and yes, I'll agree cats are not human - so when you were a kid - I'm assuming human you left out and got lost ? but came back because of your insticts ?

Was your cat wearing a collar? My cat got lost a few years ago we found it about 3 days later it was about 4 blocks away under a car.

Call the neighbors, call fairfax shelter, and post signs.

Any success on the catnip method?

I found my kitty! My friend and I were driving home about a half an hour ago, and he was sitting on the side of the road across from home! Poor little guy was scared out of his head.

That's where the nine lives thing comes from, I'm sure.

I had a similar incident with my cat - disappeared for days, was sure he was dead. Then one night he appeared at the door leading to the backyard, looking like he had been to hell and back.

Nine lives.

Even though it was an asshole comment, the picture is priceless.

I'm happy to hear that your kitty came home Melissa. I'm not a cat person, but I know how I would feel if one of my little doggies were lost. (worse than if I lost a human family member, in some ways.)
