Electronics / Home Theater Advice

At the risk of enraging the trolls. I’m going to ask FXUG for some honest-to-god electronics advice.

I need some home theater advice. I have a nice internet connected Samsung LCD that’s a couple of years old and an AV receiver and speakers. However, I’m a Cox customer which means that I really need to hang things off my TV instead of hanging things off of my AV receiver.

However, here’s what I’d like to do and what I need advice about.

1. If I want to add a pair of Bluetooth headphones so I can listen to music or TV wirelessly, what component can I add to my system to serve up the audio for these headphones? Are there any soundbars that could feed a pair of headphones or “media servers” that offer BT capability?

2. I’d like to put my MP3 music library in as a source for the system. In the base case, I could connect a tablet to the system and then walk up and punch up an iTune playlist. However, I’d really like to control my audio from my iphone. E.g., next song, volume, etc. Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve done a little research and it seem that iTunes has a remote app. Has anyone used it? Does this app connect to the tablet directly or does it go over the internet (outside of the house) and then back in to my “registered tablet server”? Pretty confusing. Are there other solutions?

Thanks in advance for sincere ideas.

Just get a bluetooth equipped AV receiver. Both problems solved.

the broadcom chip, made in USA California, that does it is $3.50

to get a device that USES the chip, which is mainly a copy of a reference board (free to download), ... you'll pay up to hundreds, even though they did practically no engineering

have fun!

The notion of the "best" preamp in any price range is a highly subjective one IMHO. I equate them to colors on a palette. The "best" preamp for home thatre or karaoke you can find through https://downhomedigital.net/preamplifiers/best-microphone-preamps/

Simple and most cost efficient thing to do, go to Best Buy, find the cheap ass receiver that will give you all the BT, wifi options, find the exact same item on Amazon for 25%less, spend $125, your done.

you didn't say if your TV has bluetooth, so we can't say if you need an bluetooth <> usb adapter or what

you didn't say if you have a smart tv samsung (junk)

you didn't buy USA: westinghouse invented the large screen high def LED TV

there are too many chink A/V standards: i guaranee a chink made AV system will only support standards that fuck with USA standards: they have done so at every turn of TECH EVOLUTION: vhs v. beta, disk format, CD format, stolen ISA and refusal of microchannel, broken plug&play, stolen broken PCI, pcie, incompatible remote controls, you name it: they've fucked with it to insure you buy all asian or get fucked.

i HATE "home theater" since "2000 spec PC" development halted in it's track when big companies said "fuck that we'll force everyone to buy 8 set top boxes there will be no end to profit"

I only have cable tv because it was free, and understand it is a bill clinton "fuck you" - because any laptop could but is being BIT BLOCKED from doing the same job

all of the A/V set top box technology is DESIGNED TO LOCK PC OUT OF PLAYBACK and insure "easy software" never emerges (if it did doesn't matter: it's locked out)

some ISP say they are changing things but

cable tv: 1980. it's 2020 almost. that's 40 years they are still bullshitting.

in other words: they plan to fuck you your whole life over and your kids (if they don't kill your kids)

1a) Get an Android box or home theater PC box that runs Kodi;
1b)Hook it up to your TV, and pair your BT headphones with the box;
2) Use Kodi to play your iTunes library;
3) Stop saying that you want to "hang things off your TV." It sounds like a liberal retard trying to talk electronics.

Home theater is a very cool thing to be honest, I have a big house I am spending a lot of time in that room with my family. Moreover it is a perfect place to watch thrillers and thrillers, my favourite genre, so it is worth to have it in a house. Also, I think that you need to have quality stuff inside because if you get poor ones, you will be needed to change pcbs every week. I wanted to save money and then I studied a guide understanding circuit boards in order to change them by myself. Now I bought a home cinema kit and I have no trouble.
