Yep, he's extremely average. That's been the scuttlebutt on him all along.
The hilarity is Skins fans jumping up and down with glee every time he has a good game as if he's going to carry this team to greatness. Average QBs don't do that, and Cousins has been average his whole career. So unless that magically changes, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I agree with you. It was directed more towards the people who bash him. Cousins has a better rating than Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton, Tannehill, Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, etc.
With that said, his rating doesn't make him a strong leader and doesn't mean the team will win.
In 1984 the Redskins won a super bowl with a slightly above average QB. In 1988 the Redskins won a super bowl with a slightly above average QB. In 1992 the Redskins won a superbowl with an average QB. The common factor? During that 10 year period they had one of the best offensive lines in football. During the '91 season Rypien was sacked 6 times all year...he ended up going on to become the SB MVP and he was an average QB. Cousins could win a super bowl if they built the correct team around him. They should go ahead and keep him for now and build the depth they need at OL, DL, etc....then look for a QB to plug in if he falls appart.
That is exactly the right thinking. For the last 15 years, Dan Snyder dragged us through is personal fantasy of overpaying for washed-up players and cycling through more QB's and coaches than anyone can count. His short term planning and constant meddling is what crippled us.
This off season, they brought in a new GM, Scot McCloughan. His brand is the definition of a longterm strategy. Also, he can utilize an average QB to build a Super Bowl winning team. There's plenty of clear evidence of what Scot did for Seattle and San Francisco. The important point is that you should not put all your eggs into the basket of a single QB (or any single player). Little Dan Snyder may have finally left the idea of "planning" to someone who knows how to do it!
Cousins is an average quarterback heading what is at best an average team...and that is a significant improvement over what the Redskins have been putting on the field for the past few years.

LOL, you guys are so adorable. Love the revisionist history to try and justify your optimism over Cousins. Let's redefine "average QB" to mean leading the league in passing yards and being SB MVP. I like that!

His whole career? This is his first season as starter. He's only played a few games before this season you dumbfuck.

That's right, biz-nitch! His NFL career. Starter or not is mostly irrelevant, other than it proving me even more correct just by virtue of the fact that no one had deemed him "good enough" to be a starter until this year. So thanks for that. :-)

OK libturd. If you didn't notice, the redskin drafted a Heisman trophy winning QB in the first round in the same draft they took cousins.

Excellent point! So nobody thought Cousins was good enough to draft as a starter, including the Skins. Man, you're almost making better points in favor of my position than I am. :-)

Teehee. Your last campaign to convince people I'm a Philly fan (as if anyone would care anyway) lasted all of 36 hours. Will it go better this time? :-)
