What the hell is wrong with this generation of young people? It's a traffic stop! Is gambling with lives, and loosing ones own really worth an escape attempt?

Any chance the driver was under the influence? Driving with headlights off is a telltale sign of a driver that's drunk.

15 year old kid, likely did not even have a Learners permit, but clearly if he did, there was not adult in the passenger seat, otherwise we would not be reading the article or seeing a news story.

Most modern vehicles have DRL or Daytime Running Lights and as part of this feature many vehicle light up the dash when the DRL are on or if there is a digital dash some or all of the dash may light up by default.

Unfortunately another young life was lost, probably a lack of parental involvement/supervision contributed to this sad loss.

What's your point? If you're not retarded, you can tell the difference between DRLs and headlights from the driver's seat. Not an excuse.

15 year old kid that is not a proficient driver probably did not know the difference. Also some DRL are brighter than others. Also depends on how bright it is out at night, full moon on a clear night you can see you shadow easily. Also if you are driving in a well lit area people do not realize they may not have headlights on.

I see people driving ALL the time without headlights one due to the DRL. You can always tell because the majority of DRL do not light anything on the rear of the car.

No excuses, just reality. Again, a kid is dead, should not have happened. Some family is devastated.

"The boneless tongue, so small and weak,
Can crush and kill", declared the Greek

"The tongue destroys a greater horde,"
The Turks asserts, "Than does the sword."

A Persian proverb wisely saith,
"A lengthy tongue - an early death";

Or sometimes takes this form instead,
"Don't let your tongue cut off your head."

"The tongue can speak a word whose speed,"
Says the Chinese, "Outstrips the street";

While the Arabs sages this impart,
"The tongue's great storehouse is the heart."

From Hebrew with the maxim sprung,
"Though feet should slip, ne'er let the tongue."

The sacred writer crowns the hole;
"Who keeps the tongue doth keep his soul."

~The Tongue, by Philip B. Strong
