It's a simple equation.

Fire current atty + Hire new atty = Continuance. -§

i believe u get 2 by yourself. 1st by phone for whatever reason. second in court saying you need to hire an atty. After that u need an atty to request one, although there is no guarantee that it will be necessarally granted

When you make a call to that hotline to make a continuance, they are just filing it on your behalf. If you have enough advance notice, you can file yourself, via a mail to the clerk's office.

doesn't mean the judge will approve it, tho.

Don't forget to send it certified (or walk it to the clerk) or else you will be looking at a bench warrant when you get back. -§

I wouldn't worry about it. Take your vacation and deal with it when you get back. It's only about 10 days in the county for failure to appear and they'll probably send a car out to pickup you up. I think you'll need to get someone to pickup after you serve time so keep that in mind.

Worth exactly what you paid for it.

The more you monkey around with the date, the more you will tick the officer in question off, as well as court staff, etc.

If you feel that this is serious, do yourself a favor and hire an attorney NOW. Be totally honest with her or him and go from there.

Good luck

The continuance game is a lottery. You are hoping the prosecutor or judge gets tired of your case before they get so pissed off they decide to make an example out of you. Seen people win at it, and I've seen people screw themselves over by doing it.
