recommend a repairman for HVAC?
Date: November 20, 2015 09:07PM

Smells like my electric HVAC blew up. The house smells like burned wiring. I used Michael and Sons a few years ago for the a/c. Anyone know of a better service?

We've had good results from Mann-In (yes, dumb name, but). (703) 263-1200. YMMV, of course.

Tom Muse Service Company diagnosed a problem in an 18-years old electric furnace in my bedroom level. Sold and installed the new one (4 or 5 years ago, details escape me). I was willing to pay for quality and got it.

They are both honest and competent. The first trait is the more important one.
I dealt with the owner. He asks excellent questions and listens. Workers were
prompt, polite, and proficient.

Would use him again.

I do HVACR, but live 1800 miles away. As I charge time from when I leave the shop that expense would be significant.

Shanahan's.

Honest guys.

Remember, the biggest advertisers are the biggest crooks. They have to keep replacing customers they fucked.

By the way, an electrical burning smell inside the house is probably a bad fan motor. No big deal and not expensive. When expensive stuff like compressors burn up, you can't smell that inside the house.

Twin Tech
703-534-twin

I can't praise them high enough. When my ac went out in the summer, they came out the same day and fixed it at a very fair price.
Eric changed my air filter and flushed the ac drain pipe too. Awesome. Family owned by twin brothers.

John Nugent & Sons installed an AC system in my house 18 years ago and did a great job- I still have it. I don't know how good their repairs are or if they are still good, but their work was competent.

You should check out sites like hotfrog, yellow pages, etc. Read the company reviews and get the best HVAC contractor.

I also have used and received excellent service from Mann In.

Always check three websites for contractors you hire in Fairfax County and Virginia:

Look them up on the local contractor complaint database:

Local better business bureau:
