FCPS now says anything under thirty minutes of search time is free.
They will say in the response letter they send you with the bill that half an hour of search time is waived.
If they combine several requests into one response letter, they should be taking half an hour off of EACH request, NOT half an hour off of the total of all the requests in the letter.

Pull your receipts. You can request a refund if they did this to you.

I see - in theory, you could deliberately phrase/limit your FOIA requests into small segments and then make a separate FOIA inquiry for each segment. Then you could turn 5 hours of research into 20 separate 15 minute FOIA requests. Good Idea. Thanks.

They will just overestimate the search time in order for compensate for the 0.5 hour that is "waived". They are just pretending it is a fair deal.

Something tells me a few FOIAs might uncover some less than proper motivation for the speeches given during the school board budget meeting. Some of the prepared statements just sounded TOO prepared-especially the ones by the kids, and some of the adults were just incoherent!
