RCC calling in an attempt to find out what you really want

The Reston Community Center, having gone ahead and spent some $40,000 in a joint consultation with the Reston Association is now committed to learning what Reston really wants it to do. In addition to meeting with people they have decided on a cell phone method of surveying supervised by the University of Virginia. This may not be a bad thing, depending on who you talk to. Some people favor though instead the Internet as a survey tool. Some others are concerned about a more logical method of asking. For example if you ask someone on the swim team if they want more places to swim your apt to get back a positive response.

I do not view the desire to survey what Restons want negatively, coming even as it dose after RCC has already started on a course. I believe that there are some on the board that do want sincerely to determine what people want, and then to proceed in a fair and democratic way. This is good.

There is a problem in Reston with communicating. The newspapers, never focused on reporting all the news may be even less so in the future for a number of reasons. There really is no internet forum other then good old FU. I would rather the Reston Community Center and the Reston Association corporate in a putting out or helping finance a Reston Citizens Newspaper that would encourage communication and maybe restore some lost trust that very much needs to be restored. The Reston Community Center is suddenly acting as if it is and has been always open and transparent but it has not been.

About lacking the entirety of a story in the news, you are not kidding. Having known the insiders within this community for practically my entire life, you'd be surprised at all of the corruption that currently exists within some of these boards.

A consultant is someone who will borrow your watch to tell you what time it is.
