FCPS Credit card statements
Posted by: & ()
Date: October 16, 2015 04:30PM

FCPS credit card statements for this year-

1)Chairman of the School Board. Nashville was the National School Boards Association conference.

2) Dr. Garza's credit card statement along with a description of what the charges were for. FCPS employees are supposed to get $11.50 for a meal outside of school hours, or GSA per diem if they are at a function representing FCPS. Don't know the reasoning behind paying for lunch with a principal, a School Board member, etc. with county funds.

Why's Sweetwater, Sea Pearl, Grevey's, Foxfire Grill, Blackfinn, First Watch and Silver Diner on there? Is alcohol ever included? There's a cafeteria in every Fairfax school if she's that hungry.

Jan. 28th - Meeting on potential business partnership at Blackfinn. Oh, I had no clue FCPS was a business.

I'd love to know how good (or bad) Ffx Co taxpayers are at leaving tips.

I am sure they got a lot of work done at the Sea Pearl.
"Working lunch."
Wonder if they talked about how broke FCPS is while they were munching away.

Yes the conversation went like this. "Did see all those clueless people out there demonstrating to get schools more money?, God bless those fools, why yes bring us another carafe"

Glad to see that the Chair's credit card bill is boring. Mr. Moon had an exciting one when he blew $900 on dinner for the whole gang last year. Turtle soup, shrimp brochettes, bananas Foster, filet-they had a great time for a bunch of people who claim the school system is destitute.

"The county" leaves decent tips. Particularly at the swanky restaurants. They don't skimp. Sure would not want to let on that we are desperate.

I have looked at a lot of FCPS restaurant receipts (and there are lots of them- they pretty much ignore the regulations that limit the use of restaurants) and have not seen any alcohol purchases. Have county plastic, will dine on the taxpayer is their theory. You can have a working lunch at Wendy's just as well as at The Pearl. I don't see why having lunch with a principal or School Board member is a justification for use of county funds anyway. They are all employees and they all fall under the same regulations. Just don't plan a meeting around a meal. It is very simple. We already pay for their meals and that is called a six figure salary plus benefits.

Funny,
Most FCPS teachers have a "working lunch" everyday. It usually only lasts about thirty minutes (max) and comes in a lunch bag or on a tray at their desks.

Seems like Garza and principals could follow the same routine.

Agree. Using county money because you want to go out to eat with a co-worker is a crime. Calling lunch "work" in order to have the citizens pay for it is a joke.

We are going to look at a few principal credit cards. John Banbury from Oakton High School is going first. Not to worry, Dr. B. There will be others.

The policy on local meals is if you have an obligation outside of regular hours you get $11.50 food per diem or mileage to and from home. You file a local travel claim, NOT put it on the pcard. You are supposed to pay for your meals during working hours out of your salary. If you are representing FCPS at a local function that involves paying for a meal you can file for per diem based on GSA limits.

There aren't supposed to be any meals on the pcards for travel. You get per diem. There looks to be a Five Guys purchase down in Richmond.

Ben and Jerry's must be an important educational expense.

And if you are on a salary supplement, like a coach or a music/drama teacher or a yearbook coach, you don't get per diem for working outside of regular hours. You take your salary supplement and use it for these expenses. So people shouldn't be using their pcards to buy them meals. That is not justified.

There also aren't supposed to be any personal charges on the charge cards.

Ellen Reilly from McLean apparently doesn't have a pcard assigned to her.

Who's going next?

FCPS has enough money to let the board and administrators eat at these places. But, they don't have enough to plow their schools. When volunteers don't step up, Garza throws a hissy and cancels school for a week, asking angry parents to put pressure on the Board of Supervisors to cough up more money.

Newsflash: the extra money would not be used for school maintenance, but for more travel and meals.

FCPS headquarters are located on Gatehouse Rd, very nearby to all of those restaurants mentioned. That's why they chose there - location.

$11.50? Seriously. Shit y'all working for the wrong employer. When I go out to eat for work lunch usually costs $30+ per person WITH alcohol and dinner's closer to $100 with apps and several alcoholic drinks. $11.50 is less than a typical app for me.

Bitchez be losing their minds over some FCPS admin eating a lunch more than $11.50. LoLz.

Oh they are getting $30 lunches. They were getting $30 breakfasts, too, as well as $100 dinners (no booze).
They just aren't SUPPOSED to be getting this stuff on the public's dime. That money is SUPPOSED to be going for the children and the schools.

The School Board doesn't give a shit.

Don't see a receipt for Disney however there was a national journalism convention there in November and a number of FCPS schools were represented. Note to the self-appointed investigators, when you take students on a trip, you are supposed to use the school issued credit card to pay for such things as student tickets, airfare, meals. Would you expect each student to pay individually for all elements of a trip?

The receipts have been ordered. No comments or assumptions from OP until they show up and are evaluated. Let's approach this with an open mind.

Depending on the trip, students usually pay for some or all of it. Typically, something like a big trip out of state is arranged by a travel agent (approved by the school system) who secures the transportation, meals, lodging, entertainment, etc. They negotiate the rates and present a package to the principal for approval. The trip is indeed paid for with a credit card or a check from the school system. The families then are supposed to make payments directly to the school system for the trip.

If you scroll back to page 10, you will see the requisite $3200+ sleepover party for the Madison HS coaches at the Westin in Arlington, complete with a breakfast that cost about $40 per person. Was there a dinner involved, also?

What ever happened to having these things in a public building? Was there anything important that could not have been easily accomplished in a room at Madison?

FCPS is broke and is going to cut services to your children.

Granted-the fund the money came out of (at least the $2000 deposit) was marked "Athletics-General-Donations".

Even if this was donated money, could it not have been spent on the children/facilities/etc.? Did it really have to go for a party for the coaches? They aren't doing this for free. If the meeting was held in a public building, they money could have been used for the kids.
