My Fellow Ignorant Libs at the MCA Meeting
Posted by: Vicky Manoogian ()

Last night VCDL flooded the meeting of the McLean Citizens Association (MCA) board meeting, where the MCA was going to decide what to do, if anything, about NOVA Firearms moving their store near a k-12 school. A few parents, who clearly didn’t know anything at all about guns, were actually concerned about the gun store being near the school.

(If those parents would simply take about 20 minutes to go visit the gun store, they would find their fears are totally unfounded.)

Members wearing VCDL “Guns Save Lives” stickers vastly outnumbered the other side, who were sporting some small black-on-white stickers.

At the beginning of the meeting the board chairman told the attendees that the board was not taking any public input on the NOVA Firearms matter. He said the board would be discussing it that evening, which they did as the last item on their agenda.

AND THE ANTIS WERE THEIR USUAL SELF-OBSESSED, RUDE, CHILDISH SELVES.

The chairman had asked everyone to please be quiet as the board held its meeting.

While gun owners were respectfully silent, one of the antis yelled at the top of his lungs from the back of the room (paraphrasing): “This guy (pointing to someone in front of him) has TWO GUNS!!! Do you allow GUNS at your meetings!?! Officer - are GUNS LEGAL here?!!”

The room broke out in laughter! If I hadn’t been so polite and not wanting to take part in interrupting their meeting, I had wanted to say, “Will everyone who is carrying a gun please raise their hand?”

The police officer at the front of the room, who is there for all the MCA meetings, said it was perfectly legal. One of the board members applauded that.

The meeting continued until another self-important anti interrupted the meeting, first demanding in a loud voice that she be told details about a committee being created and then demanding that one of the board members who was speaking stand up and face the attendees so she could hear him! Excuse me, but this is the MCA’s board meeting, they don’t have to change how they run their meeting to accommodate you, madam! Sit down and shut up. I hope she tries that at a committee meeting at the General Assembly. I’ll be sure to have some popcorn ready as I sit back and enjoy the show.

All the antis rude shenanigans always make me all the more proud of the decorum of VCDL members.

THE NEXT STEP

Reading faces, it was pretty clear to many of us that the MCA really didn’t want anything to do with the whole affair. I believe that they do want to placate the fearsome parents, so they created an ad-hoc committee to look into what, if anything, the MCA should do. The committee will report back next month.

We’ll be watching and waiting.

Bet many of those libs are patients of mine. If they were rational, thinking people, they wouldn't be libs, now would they?

Sounds like a bunch of gun nuts open carried to a McLean meeting with the intention of intimidating any opposition into silence. And it worked.
Ridiculously anti American. Democracy implies discourse.

I liked how the above looney was ridiculing the opposition stickers and their size. While the gun nuts toted striking naziesq emblems. Gun guys are usually obsessed with size and lack there of.

Your actions may be legal but they were ridiculously inappropriate and immature (it also seemed unnecessary because they are going to get their way.)

You really belong in the cud chewing portions of Virginia.

I saw a picture of one of the gun nuts open carrying.

He bore a striking and unfortunate resemblance to the more recent Oregon shooting.

Politics...it's all about the corruption. Consider that one of Fousts's largest single donors was Lynn Miller, the woman now at the center of the Dick Saslaw fraud scandal, wherein Miller allegedly used his campaign money to fulfill her personal financial needs under the shell of a phony autism charity. I wonder how clean Miller's money was when she gave it to Foust.

http://www.vpap.org/candidates/12911/donor/151891/?start_year=all&end_year=all&contrib_type=all

More about poor Ms. Miller (in case you missed the thread on here):

http://www.nbcwashington.com/investigations/Prosecutors-Fairfax-Woman-Took-More-than-600k-from-Campaign-of-Va-Senate-Majority-Leader-330739821.html

Ultimately, all these people in local office suckle from the same corrupt teat and wipe the unclean milk from their crooked smiles while pausing long enough to pander to the public and it's ample bosom of ignorance.

Are liberals born with a sense of entitlement to others' money and property, or is it learned from indoctrination and brainwashing?

A fool and their money are soon to part. Due to nature or nurture, you are likely to be taken advantage of by everyone regardless of party affiliation.

You are a self fulfilling prophecy of victim.

How did you vcome to your world view? Based on thw quality of your writing, "indoctrination and brainwashing" would have to be prime candidates.

Here's the deal, though. If so many of the pro-gun people had not showed up heavily armed, there might have been an open discussion about the pros and cons of having a gun store next door to the elementary school.

Instead, the MCA board members took one look at a crowd spoiling for a fight, and decided to spend almost all the meeting talking about everything other than the gun store. The store owners were there in person and presumably wanted to address local residents, most of whom have never met them, about their good intentions. They didn't get the chance, and now local community sees them largely as trailer trash who brought in a bunch of thugs from the sticks to intimidate them.

So, congratulations on scaring the one guy in the back of the room. I hope you enjoyed standing up for 90 minutes listening to plans to widen 66 and the next movie night for the kids.

Maybe the one guy who got scared should stay home if he can't accept reality. Even the cop in the room said it was perfectly legal.

What do you mean "even" the cop said it was legal? The guy who was concerned asked the cop.

My immediate thought when I heard the guy ask the question was that he was probably planted there by the pro-gun group so they could all yell and pull out their guns at once.

You should pity bullies. It is a learned behavior and an indicator of the abused and impotent.

Fine, fuck off. You and your buddies from West Bumfuck are a bunch of sad dudes with big guns, small dicks, and one ugly, fat-ass woman for every 20 guys.

These are the fine, upstanding gun lovers who were at the meeting. Keep in mind this group was organized out of Midlothian, so most of these people had no personal interest in this gun store and we're just there to intimidate. Notice the retard in the back with his rifle. Look at the bus they rode in on - aborted fetuses and the Virginia Tech shooter splattered all over the side.

And they wonder why people oppose this gun store. Isn't it obvious? No one wants their children exposed to insane people like them.

Would the libtards show the same outrage if an abortion clinic was located there instead so close to a school?

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

I don't surmise anything of the sort. And I'm sure plenty of vets oppose guns in the hands of untrained mentally deficient clowns who think they're in the Wild West. Pretty cheap shot by the way.

So veterans that served with honor and support the 2nd Amendment are clowns?

I surmise that you are the perfect Mclean libtard.

Did you wear hemp diapers when you were a little libtard and suck the teats of a goat so that your libtard mom could save her milk for a smarter libtard kid?

Most veterans are pro gun and pro second amendment.

The guy that owns the store is a Marine veteran

The proper thing to have done is go to the business owner, welcome him to the community and tell him of parents' concerns. Then Work out a solution as a community.Instead this Victoria bitch goes on a rant, making it a "us vs them". She made the problem with her tactics. The Mclean sheeple just followed her lead. They were too scared at the meeting, now how their wind does blow.

"I don't know the answer to the "Gun Violence" problem but, I do endorse stronger gun control laws, all of them. Since I have been clinically depressed and suicidal (VA therapy and medication have changed that), I say again, I don't own a gun, for my own safety."

Such a sad state of affairs.

The gun store opened without any specific rules or regulations preventing them from opening a shop in this location.

Now the fine people that make the rules and did not put a rule in place to keep a gun store or other commercial business from opening too close to a school want to now change the rules to suit their needs.

Likely the business owner will be impacted if there are any rule changes.

Not sure this is effective government.

But lets be real here, it started with someone specific problem with the gun store location, if they did not like the location, they are free to relocate their kids to another public, private or home school situation.

But then it goes from a specific business location and will spiral into "we do not want a gun store in McLean". Sorry, get over it. Guns and ammo are sold at Walmart, Dicks and even Sports Authority sells AirSoft and Air Rifles.

Guns are part of America and will continue to be part of America. I am all for the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms. Take away the guns and we will have much bigger issues that will likely reshape the country.

The problem that is not being addressed is Mental Health and "Background Checks". The problem is until someone has been convicted or committed, most background checks will not show a problem.

Seems there needs to be a "hook" in place to allow a family member or Mental Health Profession to be able to put someone on a "No Buy" list or a "Hold for further review list"

I mean you can have the DMV take away driving privileges from someone easier than you can take away "Buying Privileges". Hell, there should be a "No Buy List" for alcohol as well.

Some people should be committed, but for the ones that are not, there should be some checks and balances for the whacko's in the world.

It's just freaking common sense to not open a gun store across the street from a school.

What ever happened to common sense?

Yes, the gun shop should move. That's what the Mclean council will quietly decide in closed meetings. Mclean is a richies Mercedes mini-van area, not the Appalachian's. Anything to please those old ladies and soccer moms.

Yes, I am a gun owner.

So what is the specific reason you can't have gun store across the street? Don't say because guns. That's not a reason.

What do you base this assertion on? Why do you think there were people from DC and Maryland at the protest? This is complete fiction presented as fact.

No it isn't. I've gone to hearings at the FFX County Govt Center, Crime Summits,
whatever. and it's the norm. The Violence Policy Center (Brady Bunch) always tries o stack the deck.
All you have to do is look at the licence plates on their cars. The first time I noticed this was years ago when
Congressman James P. Moron hosted a "crime summit" in Alexandria and half the cars in the parking
lot were from DC and Md. Mostly little old ladies with blue hair.

Cool story, bro, but not relevant.

Almost everyone at the initial protest was from McLean, with a few other locals. It was organized on short notice as people only learned on Friday afternoon the business was opening next door to the school on Saturday.

The vast majority of the over 2400 people who've signed the petition for relocating this school are from NoVa too.

Bullshit. Vicky started ranting 2 weeks ago. People in Mclean only care about their own self interests and ignore the fact it's a legit business in a business district. We ,who are a little farther away, saw the injustice of your attitudes.
A business or person can operate or live in a certain area and the law agrees. However, the legality of your actions doesn't matter when it comes to your semen demons. You feel uncomfortable. Feelings are so important. I thought that attitude went out of fashion in the 70's.
What amazes me is no one of you had the balls to act like a neighbor and try to work a solution out first before the cameras showed up.

So was the last sentence a slip up??

"The vast majority ....... for rec locating this school......"

I think relocating the SCHOOL is the best idea, too close to other commercial business and banks.

When the Lomis or Bricks truck shows up and the thugs attempt to get the bags of cash the bullets will be flying. Where the will end up, nobody will know.

So are you stating that you or anyone else who was at THIS PARTICULAR protest observed out-of-state license plates? Or do you just not particularly care if statements you present as fact are true, as long as they bolster your argument?

I live in McLean. I'm an MCA member. I have kids in our McLean public schools. This gun store DOES NOT upset me! While I understand why parents wouldn't want a gun store next to their school, I do not understand their irrational arguments to it. At another meeting, a father stood up and told the audience his son and their friends duck down in their bus seats when they drive by the store. That is ridiculous. That school is now the safest school in town! Kids should have a respect for guns which is why my father taught me how to shoot and why I have taken my oldest child to a gun safety and shooting class. It wasn't that long ago that our schools had rifle clubs and kids were taught how to respect weapons. Now, they learn about weapons from video games and, I suspect, many kids don't really comprehend what it is like to actually shoot a weapon. When my teenager shot a 9mm at a target range, my teen left with a complete respect of the power of that weapon and also remarked, "Mom, I can't believe how much effort it takes to focus on the target. Cops really must be under a lot of pressure in having to make split-second decisions." My teen now has a better understanding of the pressures our officers face too. Parents, please dial down the heat. Gun supporters, please don't resort to personal attacks on these parents. I know this community VERY well. Yes, they are way too liberal. Yes, they will make out any gun supporter to be some red-necked freak. Yes, they are wrong and mistaken, but don't feed the liberal beast. The MCA is overall a good and deliberative and FAIR community organization. I hope all sides can adopt a more realistic and respectful tone. Thank you

Agree that so many from McLean feed off of each others hysteria. Vitoria and her friends live in some fantasy world. McLean is also changing, not so much for the better now that the Silver Line is here and Tysons is rapidly expanding. McLean will NEVER again be what McLean once was. Sad, but true and just the way things are rolling out. I am one of the few that actually grew up in the area, been here for almost 50 years, so I have seen McLean, Arlington, Falls Church, Tysons, Vienna, Herdon, Great Falls change dramatically.

I would bet many of the older boys in this school and Victoria's son play lots of FPS (First Person Shooter" video games. These kids know all the weapons by site and name, but they only use these weapons in a "virtual" world where they just use the trigger on the game controller. Kids these days are exposed to virtual weapons on a daily basis. Many parents have no idea what their kids are doing for hours on end engage in virtual killfests in the basement with the video games that the parents bought for there kids.

Totally agree that there is nothing better for kids or adults to taught about weapons, how to handle them, verify that they are unloaded, use them at the range in the appropriate manor. This will give everyone a much better respect and understanding on what the specific weapon is capable of and how to handle them. It will also give people that are "afraid" or "scared" of weapons an idea about how the weapons do not have a life of their own and it is the person behind the weapon that controls the situation.

I have taken my kids, male and female, to the range many times to learn about firearms, how to respect and use them properly. Even took foreign exchange students to the range when they were here to visit. In their county firearms were not something they would likely be able to have access to. Wanted to allow these kids to experience something they would not likely be able to do in their native country. Again, they came away with a lot of respect for both America and its core values along with respect for firearms. This is something they enjoyed and will likely remember for their entire life.

Although many think the NOVA Firearms and Victoria controversy are just here locally and on FFU, if you search a bit, this issue has gone nationwide and it all over other forums many are discussing this issue. It brings a lot of passion and emotion out on both sides, but I think in reality at the end of the day the gun shop next to a school is no more of a problem than a church next to the school.

Unfortunately this is also taking on a Political life if its own as well. The Democratic incumbents as well as non incumbents. This seems to be more of a "political" issue for many than a true safety concern. But what do you expect in Fairfax and when we are so close to Washington, DC the worlds capital of dysfunctional politics.

If there is ever any catastrophic event at this school, it will not likely be directly related to the gun shop next to the school.

The world is not a safe place, schools are not a safe place, McLean is not a safe place. This is just the way things are today, unfortunate but true.

I don't expect the MCA to do anything. The MCA members are old, rich and conservative, not representative of the community at large. Louise Epstein is on the committee formed to look at the issue. She lost to Janie Strauss in the 2011 School Board election.

Strauss opposes the store's location and is a former Franklin Sherman PTA president. Epstein's kids went to different schools and she's a hard-core Republican so she'll make sure the store stays as close to Strauss's backyard as she can. The only card Strauss has is to get the School Board to exercise eminent domain over the store property in order to expand the school and provide it with another entrance.

Go suck on a gun, dipshit. If the store owners had any balls they would engaged with the community before they opened in the new location. They didn't and absolutely knew they'd piss off the community and get free publicity.

It won't be easy to get rid of them now but they will never be welcome, either. Only trash would open a gun store next to a school in today's world and they are trash.

Bullshit!!!
Let's look at those pesky facts. Crime has been steadily declining.

Second, what a pathetic response. Glad most people don't have your thinking.
We wouldn't have nice things like fire extinguishers and fire sprinkler systems.

Yeah, I read the article about the Pew Research Center (nonpartisan) findings.

First, as any of us who keep up with these things, gun crime rates are down by 50% since 1991.

Second, and what some of us cynics know, the populace out there believes that there's actually more gun crime now.

That's because they believe the Left Wing Media (NBC/ABC/CBS/MSNBC/NPR/Pacifica/etc.) who don't report news, but make up facts, creating a "consensus".

Meanwhile, I'll keep my guns, thank you.

And, if that McLean gun store is allowed to open, I hope us citizens make the owners rich. The more Progressive Liberals speak, the more rich this gun shop owner will become.

(P.S., in South Carolina today or yesterday, an armed citizen killed a robber at a Waffle House; you better believe that this death will count in Progressive Liberals' statistics on gun crimes as an unnecessary gun homicide).

What a whako, you are showing general overall crime stats. Guess what McLean ain't what is used to be and will be changing for the worse in the near future.

School are a safe place, based on what??

Read and learn - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States

If you are delusional to think schools are some sort of Safe Zone, you are kidding yourself.

Why do you think most Middle and High Schools in NOVA have armed SRO/Student Resource Officers and have had them for probably 40+ years.

I would bet if you looked at all these school related shooting/attacks you would find none that had anything to do with a nearby gun store.

Typical libtard tactic: when losing an argument, call names, lie, and deflect.

Go back and read what I said again.

Now, where do I say schools are a safe place?
I don't.

'McLean ain't what it used to be.' Prove it. Real stats and facts or fuck off!

Gun store near school. Bank near school. Pedophile teachers in school. Helicopter parents drive kids to school. Helicopter parents use cell phone while driving kids. The fact of life is kids die from disease, illness, accidents, stupid and irresponsible parents. Everyone dies one way or another. Enjoy everyday as if it's your last. One day it will be.

It's the norm. Get over it. Next time there's an event like this

That last part is interesting...I'd LOVE to see this on one of the news stations you mentioned. But God forbid they talk about how guns, in the right hands, can protect people and actually save lives. Even if all guns were banned here in America the criminals (or would be criminals) would still find a way to get one, so now they're armed but we're not. I just don't understand liberal logic at all. Guns aren't a new thing...the only thing that's new is the way the media reports on it and people are dumb enough to believe it instead of forming their own opinions by doing a little bit of research.

I have never ever spent any money in Mclean before. After reading this thread I now want to travel to this gun store and spend some money there. Been looking at buying another handgun and I think I now have a good reason to go ahead and spend some money.

If it had not been for this thread and others like it, I would have never known of this new gun store.

Thanks

No Problem! You can practice with it just down the road. Get on Rt.123 and turn on to 1000 Colonial Farm Road. Tell the guard you're there 'to practice shooting with your new gun'. He'll let you right in.

I,also, never wanted a gun before. I've been to the shop a few times now. They are very friendly. Check their Facebook page. I'm thinking about Sig Sauer Legion Series. It has very good reviews. You could buy it online a little cheaper, but I figure with the help they'll give me with the grip and ammo advice the extra dough is worth it.

On the flip side, there were people

particularly
care if statements you present as fact are
true,
as long as they bolster your argument?

Saying "It's the norm." does not constitute proof. I DID attend and everyone I saw was from McLean. How would I take pictures to prove a negative (that there WEREN'T cars from DC and Maryland)? Continuing to repeat your false assertion, hoping that eventually you will wear us down and it will be accepted as fact isn't going to work in this case.

As a responsible gun owner whose guns have never hurt anybody, I would like to say how disappointed I am in that woman and how she has unfairly attacked a legitimate business.

That said, I would still have sex with her.

Were Karen and Martina there? I haven't seen them since the Alden Theater event.

Here’s a portion of the article from the link above:

Ruth Hoffman of McLean watched the details of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting last December and couldn't help but feel it hit close to home. As the mother of a 4-year-old and 7-year-old, she identified with the families of the victims of the tragedy, and found herself rethinking her previously held belief on guns.

Martina Leinz of Arlington, president of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Million Mom March, speaks at a gun control reform forum Monday, May 13 at the Alden Theatre.

“After Newtown, I listened a little closer, I followed the debate, and I became ashamed of my [Republican] party and their talking points against making even the most modest changes in addressing this issue,” she said. “I feel regret that I didn’t care more, before something like that.”

Soon Hoffman had another scare, this one much closer to home.

“On January 2, my daughter’s school went into lockdown. A man had stolen a car, wrecked it near the school and fled on foot. And my first grader, along with her class, took cover in the corner of her classroom,” she said. “And she told us that night, ‘Mommy, I cried and prayed because kids said a man was coming with a gun to shoot us.’ And now their school keeps their classroom doors locked during the day, and children take turns opening their first grade classroom to kids entering through the door.”
