***Failing to stop at school bus***

Today, I got a ticket cause the police officer said got me and "PASSING STOPPED SCHOOL BUS" The problem was that in was opposite side on Route 1. I thought you only have to stop if the school bus is on your side. Plus There was no LITTLE kids bus. or Special Ed bus it was (High Schoolers. I have been going this way since September 20th and always kept going when I was the find one in the line. Can I fight this at court or should I just paid it? How many points

I think you have to stop if there isn't a meridian strip.

Some people call it a MEDIAN, but otherwise, the above post is accurate. Unless there is an actual median, not just yellow lines, you are wrong.

And the age of the kids doesn't matter, stupid...

Unless it is a divided highway you MUST stop. Yellow double lines do not make a divided highway. This violation has an attention getting fine attached to it.

You are fucked.

Sure, feel free to mow down the high schoolers. Idiot. Some people should not be allowed to have a license. Keep in mind, folks, this nitwit has a 'right' to own guns. Of course, he's so stupid he'd probably shoot himself first.

I've seen this a lot on Rt.1. Sometime so many drivers roll past the bus that there aren't enough cops to stop them all. The people even wait until the cruisers are all occupied then roll past. This happens on Rt.1 from old Mt. Vernon High to Highland Lane, nice neighborhood. The squad cars sit in Johnny Mac's parking lot and snag them as they drive by. Yo King and others are correct. No concrete median no stoppy get ticky.

WTF? You are screwed. Without and sense, you must get into a world of trouble out there.

You mean, English speakers? Indeed.

ObAnecdote: I saw a lady try to fight a ticket for this same offence when I was in court as a witness to an accident. Her reason for pleading not guilty: "I didn't see the school bus".

Surprise, judge was not impressed.

the title of this thread should be, "failing to pay attention in driver's ed"

6 points on your license for 11 years.

Driver's manual is free at a DMV. Unfortunately that ticket will be at least $250 dollars, more if you bore the judge with lame excuses. Drop by and pick up the book in case you missed anything else.

Show up to court. Dress nice. Be very remorseful. Apologize to the prosecutor and/or judge. Repeat that it will never happen again. None of this "they were big kids" crap.

Maybe, just maybe, you can get a charge reduction. Definitely don't "phone this one in". A good showing in court can help you a lot.

Two sets of double solid yellow may count as divided.
