Who will win? Who will lose? Here is the FFU poll.

Ryan McElveen will lose.

That's my prediction.

By his own admission, the public hates the school board. His silly policies (transgender priority), weird behavior (selfies, prom date) and constant self promotion make him top of the hate list.

There seems to be a strong I HATE RYAN club out there, but I am not seeing much support for any of the challengers. People may be pissed with things that the current School Board has done, but not enough to vote for veiled or not so veiled tea party candidates.

In our household all 3 of us are voting against all of the current at large members.

A little tea now and again is a good thing.

Hate to break it to you but it will be a slam-dunk for all three current At-Large incumbents. Democrats tow the party line and unlike Republicans, actually vote the full ballot in greater numbers. So unless you really turn out your GOP friends in huge numbers across the county, the incumbents will be back. The transgender issue is only an issue in the minds of a handful of people. It's not going to drive most voters. No one in my area - Great Falls - even discussed it during the vote.

This November 4th there are 14 positions on the ballot and two bond questions. The ballot will not include a party designation for most of these so included is a list of the Republican candidates for these offices in Fairfax County below.

This will be a low turnout election (around 30%) so your vote is even more important and critical. The decisions made by your local elected leaders have a significant impact on your lives. Please take the time to vote.

Are you registered to vote? You have until October 13th.

2015 GOP CANDIDATES for School Board

Dranesville – Pete Kurzenhauser

Hunter Mill – Mark Wilkinson

Mt. Vernon – Anthony Stacy

Providence – Patty Reed

Springfield – Elizabeth Schultz

Sully – Tom Wilson

That sounds about right, but we'll know for sure in less than a month.

You will give a very big shit when taxes double to pay for all of FCPS' wasteful spending. $80,000 a month on travel. $9,000 a day consultants. More Ridge and Gatehouse bureaucrats. No one knows for sure what this transgender stuff will cost, but it is not free, and YOU will pay for it.

Oh yes, don't forget, the school board voted itself a raise. Isn't that special? And YOU get to pay for that too.

They all need to be held accountable for the mismanagement of the money, time, and property entrusted to them. Dr. Garza does not consistently enforce school system policies. This is her job and she is lousy at it. The School Board is very weak at this, also. Oversight is horrible. You point things out to all of them, and you are ignored. A lot of the school staff are crooked and greedy. Without oversight or consequences, they do whatever they want, and quite frankly they don't feel the responsibility to handle things properly. They know nothing will be done if they don't do things correctly, so they just do whatever. Time and time again they have displayed these attitudes.

Pathetic.

There are plenty of things that are still wrong with FCPS and plenty of administrators whose heads should roll. However, this description is so exaggerated that it's enough to make most parents think that you lack judgment.

This is not an exaggeration. This is the truth. I have excellent judgment. Too bad the school staff don't.

Dear Don't exaggerate----

Have you read the parking pass money and non-local travel threads? These people spend money like it grows on trees. Fraudulent travel claims, lavish parties/"meetings", "retreats" at Nationals games, using public funds to subsidize illegal parking, buying everybody presents, expensive dinners at restaurants most people can only dream of going to............

All with our hard-earned dollars that we thought were going to help the schools and the kids.

No exaggeration-FCPS spends an average of $80,000/month on travel. The destinations include Boston, Nashville, the Johnson Space Center (Houston) and Germany. This is not the behavior of a school district trying to handle money responsibly. This is the behavior of a badly run school district laughing at the taxpayers. Germany, indeed!

I'm voting against every single at large member. I've been a registered democrat forever. These people waste money and are arrogant. This business with Ryan McElveen putting his FCPS email on his campaign site was the last straw. It has cost Moon and Velkoff my votes as well.

Given that my democratic county supervisor was upset to see the $80,000/month travel document, I suspect Gatehouse my find itself a little short on money quite soon. How many transgender bathrooms can McElveen build with no money?

It is a bit peculiar given Braddock has a Republican supervisor and is the third-most Republican district in Fairfax but FCRC ran what was supposed to be a strong challenger in 2011 and came up short. Perhaps no one wanted to try again this year.

From what I have been hearing Megan McLauglin is not very popular. The problem is that the opposition is not united.

Any county employee who has the nerve to take a county charge card and charge a $100 dinner at Morton's or anywhere else and doesn't understand how inappropriate this is deserves whatever people say about it. That belongs on your personal charge card. Who do you think you are? A School Board member doing the same thing or not disciplining the employee deserves to be voted out. And most of the current Board did the same thing down in New Orleans at Court of Two Sisters.

You are all spendthrifts and thieves. You took money that should have been used for the children and used it to have a good time for yourselves.

class size - impacts not only kids, parents, and teachers, but also businesses, taxpayers, and home values.

They do endorse Moon, the least offensive of the three.

McElveen, with his bathroom fetish is a lost cause as is Velkoff, fixated on being able to levy his own taxes.

Check out class size counts for a non-partisan review of the candidates.

This is a group of parents including Democrats, Republicans, Independents who
are looking for the candidates best aligned to help our kids vs a political party.

Who are you kidding? This is a Republican group whose agenda is driven largely by School Board candidates who ran in 2011 and lost, like Louise Epstein.
