I have sent Mr. McElveen polite emails about his recent travel and left him two polite voicemails.
He has not bothered to respond.
He thinks he is better than the rest of us-above the law. He think that he can do as he pleases as he is a school board member.
I will not vote for him, and if he is re-elected I will do what I can to monitor his every move and ask questions about things I consider inappropriate.

Why don't you pull his travel claims and take a look at them before jumping to conclusions? Send an email to bareaves@fcps.edu. He is entitled to travel benefits for professional education.

How much professional education is he entitled to? It seems like he attends 2-3 conferences a year.
What has he learned at them?
This failure to respond is his pattern-he only responds when he feels it is in his best interest. He does not want it known that he is jetting off to conferences when the kids are in trailers. He thinks that the Board of Supervisors will just continue to hand FCPS money, or that it will get its own taxation authority.
If that happens (taxation authority), taxes will double. We'll have transgender bathrooms, transgender locker rooms, a transgender consultant (Caitlin Jenner at $150,000 a year), travel to conferences in Australia and Japan (just like Boosterthon) and who knows what else. Test scores will be so low we won't think MVHS was so bad.
Ryan McElveen was a last minute choice, and his legacy shows that it was a bad choice. Vote the man out of office, or suffer the consequences.

How long are you going to beat this dead horse? We get it - you don't like McElveen. But your logic is illogical. Not responding to (what is probably a deluge of) emails by an obvious antagonist is not 'above the law'. As a member of a voting board he can't just 'do as he pleases'.

Since Ryan McElveen is an elected official he should answer questions about how his part of the county spends money. In this case it is not only his part of the county, namely, FCPS but also his travel for FCPS.
If he won't respond, then FCPS and him are not being transparent and that's a bad thing. Instead of standing on the importance of his elected office he should take a broader view. He could have conquered the moral high ground but he'd rather not because then he thinks and possibly rightly so that people might criticize his travel.
