How to find a home for a DOG
Posted by: Fred C. ()

A older neighbor near me is more or less on her last weeks in the Hospital, she probably has 3 weeks left if that.

Anyway, she has a young person living with her who will have to move out but they own a small dog and will have to give up the DOG.

What is the best way to find a home for the DOG (besides the Humane Society)?

Craigslist or animal shelter.

I have since found out there is a no-kill adoption agency called FOHA in Fairfax. That works.

Depending on the breed, there may be a rescue organization in the area that can take it. If you do go the Craigslist route, DO NOT give the dog away for free. There are so many horror stories about dogs getting abused/used for dog fighting bait dogs and things like that. Charge a re-homing fee to keep those types of people away.

Small dog can be quite tasty if slow roasted at 325 degrees for 3 hours, and served with steamed fresh veggies.

Not for you? Try a Korean style stir-fry, and paired with a bottle of dry red wine.

The same is also true for overweight millennials living in their mother's basements. Plus the small dog will be harder to catch.

Fairfax County Animal Shelter is a great option. They will help find a home for the dog and also work with local rescues. Craigslist is not recommended based on the real intent of the majority of the "eat the dog" commenters on this thread. Amazing that a question is asked and most of you are too stupid to admit you don't know the answer rather than helping out.

And temperamemt. Some small dogs like chihuahuas aren't very sociable, at least in my experience. Other breeds may tend to be yappy, but as long as they are sociable, should be fine.

That should be "temperament". My eyes are bad.

What kind of dog is it? Do you know how old it is?

Why isn't the young person taking the dog when they go?

5602 Dogue Run Dr.
Fairfax Station VA 22039-1044

Call Karen 703-250-0358.

They'll take the dog but you have to worry that it might be served for lunch.

Whatever you do, don't give to the PETA, or to the Fairfax County Shelter.

Probable death for the poor pup, out of "humanitarian reasons."

My neighbor passed away. I drove the dog to Fountainhead Park, tied a couple pork chops to her, and set her free. Thanks to all who offered ideas. It's a relief to be done with all this.

Lots of animal rescues in the area. I got my third dog at homeward trails. They are right off Ox Rd in Fairfax.
