FFX COUNTY SCHOOLS AND THEIR DAYS OFF

Schools are closed this Friday! WTF! Is it because it's a holiday weekend and the school board decided that a 4-day weekend is required? I remember by school days(unfortunately) vividly and we didn't get the Friday before Columbus Day off!
This is why the County schools whine and cry when snow days have to be made up. Stop giving out these stupid "Student Days" or "Early Dismissal" days(Oct. 30th). County requires 180 days of learning or is it a set number of hours? Either way these "days off"/"early dismissals" are a joke!
The days off that I remember in my day(excluding holidays/week breaks) were 2 days in November, 2 days in January and 1 day in April.
No wonder the County schools are sucking hard! Have to give the little "precious ones" their rest. Thought the later start times solved that problem? Guess not.

Honestly though, if it wasn't for all of the "teacher work days" that are really teacher holidays, the school year would be complete in early June at the latest.
FCPS has a school year longer than anywhere in the country because of all these phantom teacher work/seminar days.

Be nice. Don't you know that all those people in Gatehouse need these seminar days in order to justify their own jobs?
Think about it, if we cut some of their jobs, it would reduce the costs quite a bit--fewer days to keep the buildings fully open; fewer people in Gatehouse; less need to put additional demands on teachers to supply Gatehouse people with justification for jobs, etc.
