Nationals Fire the Entire Coaching STAFF- Including Matt Williams

WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals fired manager Matt Williams and the entire coaching staff Monday after two seasons as the team’s skipper, according to statement released by the team.

In addition to Williams, bench coach Randy Knorr, pitching coach Steve McCatty, hitting coach Rick Schu, third base coach Bobby Henley, first base coach Tony Tarasco, bullpen coach Matt LeCroy and defensive coordinator/advance coach Mark Weidermaier all have been informed their contracts will not be renewed.

Nationals president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo said on a conference call Monday afternoon that several of the coaches had been offered other jobs within the organization. He also did not rule out Knorr, one of the leading candidates for the managerial role when Williams was hired, from the potential hiring pool for the next manager.

No way Cal Ripken is the next coach. No experience, and the Nats have already been there done that with Davey Johnson and Matt Williams.

My guess is Terry Francona.................

A coaching staff can absolutely have an impact on injuries. For example, hw many times you make your bullpen pitchers warm up before you put them into the game makes a difference. That is why the pitchers complained. (Now be sure to tell me that they are professionals so they should be able to do whatever the coach or manager asks.)
