Such a "Not In My Backyard" kind of crowd signing in on the petition.

The Gun Free School Zone law was poorly written. Many, many, many people, including myself would possibly be in violation of this law if take the only way in and out of a neighborhood transporting any firearms that is within 1000 feet of a schools boundary. So "legally" I could not even enter or exit my neighborhood if I had firearms with me.

There are technically exceptions, they are not a clearly written as they should be, but here are a few examples:

(i) on private property not part of school grounds;

comment - well driving down a public street is technically not private property.

(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;

comment - transporting, owning or using the weapon does not require a license unless it is a concealed carrying situation

(iii) that is—

(I) not loaded; and

(II) in a locked container, or a locked firearms rack that is on a motor vehicle;

comment - so unloaded and lock in the trunk or locked case in an SUV should meet this requirement.

But as usual, police will choose what they want to lay attention to!

They are saving close to $500k not sending the 3 kids to private elementary alone when they clearly have enough to go around.

Also the house is just in Scott's name, smart guy because Victoria is just along for the ride squeezing out the puppies. Makes it easier to deal with when things come off the rails and Scott starts hitting the hottie from the office or the gym. The house value posted is way off, the house was a 45 year old tear down that was bought for $1.685 million or basically an expensive almost 1 acre building lot. The current assessment of the house is $4 million.

As I recall Langley Lane is a regular street, however, a few of the small streets in that area area actually gravel. Yes gravel FFX street. The owners like it that way, but the roads can actually be a bit narrow as well.

The kids have no idea what Mom did, dad was probable way on the outside and the Vitoria got her panties all in a knot and called all here stay at home house moms to mobilize the troops.

No one from the area wants that slimy jackass JB and his drunk of a girlfriend-bookkeeper in McLean, and anyone patronizing the store will be met with patronizing looks and utter disdain from the locals. They can factor that into their analysis in deciding whether they really want to come to McLean to buy a gun or just shop local in Manassas or Sterling.

Husband probably at least has a handgun that wife knows nothing about and he never practices with it. When guns are in a house, EVERYONE, needs to know about it and EVERYONE needs to know how to handle and use them. Its a tool and people need to know how they work, respect them and understand how to safely handle them.

Problem starts when dad has a loaded weapon stashed in a draw in his office that is supposed to be off limits and one of the kids find it. For some reason kids/untrained people seem to always point the weapon at themselves for a "better look". This is when accidents happen.


What is even more ironic is this situation, it is not about a gun store being next to a school. It is about a gun store in the neighborhood. The business owner has lived in McLean for years, he and his wife have worked in McLean for years, his kids attended public school in McLean for year. He has has had a store in McLean for a few years. He and his family are "residents" and have lived and worked in the area for over a decade that I am aware of, maybe even longer/

Now you have the "Not In My Backyard" crowd show up. Most of these people do not grow up or live in NOVA and are "outsiders". They have no idea about any of the history or what goes on in "Their Backyard".

So if it was not the school, it would be the church 500 feet from the store or the restaurant or the bank or the gas station and on and on.

What these protesters are SO missing the boat about is there is a Bank Of America right next to the school, even closer than the gun store. What these protesters missed is this BOA was robbed a few years ago. Yes some DC or PG hoods showed up in quite little downtown McLean and robbed the bank at gunpoint. Yes, an armed robbery right on the schools edge closer to the front door than the gun shop.

So what would have happened if the police showed up and a shoot out occurred? What would have happened if the robbers took off, felt cornered and entered the school and tried to take hostages? Oh, and BTW this will not be the last time this bank is a target, it will likely happen again sometime in the future.

There is more likely to be gun violence at the Bank, 7/11 or the gas stations right next to the school then the gun store.

So the soccer moms, Facebook and petition crowd should get their facts straight before they go off on some tangent. Focus on the real threats.

McLean has more bank robberies per square foot than most places in the nation. Partially because there are about 30 banks in a square mile area.

So I would be more worried about gun violence doing business at a local McLean bank then doing business or attending a school function near the gun store.
