If you insist on it being legal in Virginia, don't even bother. Tint limit on front side windows is 50%, which is not worth putting on.

Don't risk the illegal tinting- My car passed VA inspection for five years, I bought it used and didn't even know the tinting was over the limit. Tinted windows is a $30 fine, plus a $65 'processing fee' Yikes! I went to court and the judge said- 'too bad,' for an additional $30 court fee . . .

I've had 35% all around for about 5 years now. Only got 1 ticket for it (so far). If you like it, get it.

As far as inspection goes, they won't fail you for illegal tint.

Had car for 2yrs, got 2 tickets 35%. If you're not driving around Broad St. (aka, the forbidden neighborhood) in Falls Church you're good.

There's a place in Centreville on Rt. 29 south bound (physically West bound I guess). It's just before Rt. 28...it's a little shack with reflective tint on it's windows. They did my car about 2 years ago and I haven't had any issues. Can't think of the name of it, but that's where it was.

I have a crossover that came with 20% factory tint in the rear windows and I had them do 20% in the front...still not legal, but haven't been ticketed yet in 2 years. But as most have said, if you want "legal" you can only do 50% up front and 30 or 35% in back (I can't remember which). 50% isn't worth the money though (this place was about $90 for the two front windows)

The only other place I've gone to is in Herndon but I think they went under years ago.

Okay
so for those of you who think sunglasses are a suppliment for tinting...

Tinting is so people can't see in. It affects the transparency too on the inside but that's not why you get it. It blocks some UV rays but you can't see that feature.

Also the legal limit in Virginia:
Sedan: 35% back side and rear window
50% front side
NO windshield tint

SUV/Truck/Van: 5% Rear side (Also Middle window's in Van's) and rear window
50% front side
NO windshield tint

One things that i can say...

Ziebart tint shop in Fairfax...it is sucks..!!
Especially the person who working at front desk...
He soooooooo nut..i mean he does not know how treat the customer..
Even i made an appointment, i wait almost 2 hours.....
He never say anything what is going on....
After i ask about waiting... He just simply say....'Sorry..' and 'you can cancel the schedule....' like that....

yea definitely go with The Tint Shop, the original one in Chantilly right by Anita's. They do good work and stand by it. The main installer Magic does it good and it doesnt take all day. Got mine tinted there about three to four months ago and no problems at all. Plus, guarunteed not to turn purple, how great. Definitely stop in there. and plus, not to bad on your wallet either!

Had my BMW done with 5% at my friend's shop in Arlington called Graphics-N-Tints. He does any percentage you want with 3M film. Also installs aftermarket car accessories like speakers or radar detectors. Most reasonable priced guy by far.

Oh and the best part... He speaks perfect English. No speak Spanish!

LA Tint is not an option in my opinion. They really are all just about the money, not quality of the end product. Go with smaller businesses' who usually take the time to do it right and have pride in the cars they work on.
