I have taken both my cars to Currys in Chantilly. I switched to them last year and I have been very pleased. I even got new tires from them when my State Insp was due. I was going to take it to Costco for the tires but Currys offered to match the costco price and offered all the other bonus stuff like rotation etc.

Great place to go for sure. May pay a little more for the labor rate, but they do a great job and are very professional. I've only gone to the Chantilly one, but I'd be willing to guess that you would get the same level of service from any of them.

This is one of the local shops recommended by Pat Goss if that means anything to you. A bit out of the way for me, but friends have had good experiences there.

Genevieve went to the chantilly one for an oil change once, and the guy was looking down at his screen and said "we are full up for today, we don't have ti-"

And then he looked up and saw she has a notable rack, and he quickly changed to "sure, we can fit you in in a few minutes"

great service!

These guys suck. The first and only time I took my car there, one of the idiot mechanics put a gash in one of my leather seats. When I complained to the service manager, he tried to act all tough with me and got in my face. And he's lucky he didn't start shit cause I conceal carry and would not hesitate to put a bullet in him. I'd never take my car in there ever again.

A concealed carrier threatening the use of violence over cosmetic damage to your car? Does Sarah Brady pay you monthly, or just quarterly?

I'll remember that the next time I need service, maybe I can borrow her for half an hour just to run her over there and schedule my car.

No, it wasn't about the damage to my seat. This guy was just acting like a real ass. He took on a very abusive tone and started to become very aggressive towards me, pounding his fists together and hunching over like he was going to start a fight. I have every right to defend myself from physical harm. All I wanted was for them to pay for the seat repair.

Of course, you were an angel in the whole situation. Most successful businesses around here typically use the guidelines of getting right up in a customer's face when they have a valid complaint. If you are going to trash someone, tell both sides of the story.

Who wouldn't agree, a gash in the leather is totally worth putting a bullet in someone.

I'm not saying Curry's doesn't make mistakes, but in my experience in going to different shops for 15 years, I've had the best luck and service at the Chantilly location. Can't speak for the other Curry's shops. And when they've made a mistake, they fixed it.

They do a good job and do their best to make things right. Their experience with performance cars and race cars means that they do a VERY accurate alignment, tire balancing, etc.. They are REALLY expensive, though. Usually more than the dealership!

They ripped me off, charged me over $1200 for service on my car - if you are female take a male with you, otherwise they snowball you things you dont need. 2 days after paying the $1245 service bill, my car broke down on the beltway around 2am in the morning.

No... you don't. If you were honestly under the impression of impending physical harm you would *gasp* walk out of the establishment. But your inflated narcissistic ego prevents common sense from occurring inside your skull. Somehow you come to the conclusion that a firearm is a possible tool in the resolution of a dispute over a CAR SEAT. How stupid ARE you?

The right to bear arms with no brains.

You might want to educate yourself on the legal side of a CCW... you know, what happens on the real world.

Back to the topic at hand-

Curry's has been great in my experience. I take all of my cars there. Also, Curry's sponsors a track day at Summit Point every year, great place to wear out those new tires!

Currys used to be very good. Now the owner is trying to make it a chain so he can cash out. They have cut the techs pay and benefits while raising their labor rate?? Supposedly due to the economy? I have a good friend that is a tech there he used to work with me and as many of their techs is looking to get out. I know that he heard that they lost their best tech and shop foreman at the Chantilly location already.

Very good but very expensive. I used to take my track car there. For example they wanted $800 just to install lowering springs in my car. I couldnt afford it any longer. I wouldnt take my cars there for normal stuff like oil changes. Only things that require expertise.

They are totally incompetent these days...I heard similar things regarding the pay cuts and the quality of the technicians from someone who works there...

They claim that it will be the best service experience ever! Guaranteed! Try to get that one covered....they will call you a liar if you ever run into problems. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I bought an S4 a few years ago and refused to take it to anyone but Curry's in Chantilly since Rod worked there and I trusted his work. The cost was a bit higher, but I knew I was getting quality service. About a year ago, I had some trouble trying to use a Curry's 'coupon card' on some stuff I had done, as well a small invalid charge on my ticket that was a supposed 'oversight'. After that, I really didn't get the feeling that the guys at the front wanted my car in their shop, so I stopped taking it there. Fortunately, Rod has recently moved to another shop near Gainesville (Ferris Automotive), so that's where I'll be taking my car from now on.

I was directed to Curry's (not sure which one) about 4 yrs ago when I was trying to get the timing belt/water pump changed on my '91 MX-6 GT. The guy told me it would be $900-$1000, which is insane for that car. When I told him the car wasn't worth much more than that (200k+ at the time), he became a prick saying something like "well I guess you can just put a new engine in it then, huh?".. to which I replied "no, I'll just find someone that's not trying to rape me, shitbag." I got it replaced soon after for about $450... at a dealership no less. And yes, I'm still driving it... 270K+ and still 26-30mpg on the hiway.

I wish I had that tool's number, so I could call him again when I need another belt change...

Brought in my W140 300SD to Curry's to do a post purchase inspection and check out the turbo. Well I don't think they have a very good diesel mechanic because the guy told me there was nothing wrong with it. What actually was wrong with it is that turbo would shut off and not come on due to a messed up MAF sensor. But apparently the guy just attributed this to the car being old. And they also wanted to replace the entire lower control arm assembly - $700 part new - because of a worn out bushing.

Anyways, I'm glad they found all the leaks and all the work that needs to be done cause I do my own work now.

They were very conveniently located to my former address in Falls Church, so I went there a few times. But they are seriously overpriced, like a factor of 50% more than what sites like RepairPal say is the fair range.

They quoted me $110 to replace cabin air filter on a Vibe, which I learned online is simple to do yourself, if you can change your engine air filter, which I can. Buying the part would cost under $17 online, and take about 15 minutes time. Curry wants to charge $45 for the filer, $58.50 for half hour of labor, and $7 to spray fresh odor in there. Once I saw that, I committed to changing mechanics to one closer to me and less targeted to the "luxury" market. I'll go one more time to get my $60 off for reward card, and bye-bye.

And they ALWAYS keep you standing there waiting to be greeted, b/c they evidently don't want to pay a FT office/reception person.

This is getting way off track but sort of relates to the manager getting in someone's face. I used to be a teacher in FCPS, at one particular high school, Lee, there was this complete jackass student, I mean a real worthless piece of sh!t.

So, I retire and go to work in the private sector. I was working in Arlington and 1 day took my care to a tire place and who is the service manager but this jerk off student. I didn't see the jerk until after they had given me an estimate for new tires etc, then I see this guy and say to the sales person, no way would I have any work done here if you hire jerks like this guy. Wellllll....of course sh!t for brains got pissed and decided to act tough, and even at my somewhat advanced age I'd have kicked his ass, but I stood my ground and said no way would I let someone like him be in charge of work on my car. I wasn't about to turn my back on him because he was such a POS that he no doubt would have blind sided me. I gradually turned sideways, and worked my out of the place. Oh, the tire place was Craven. I'm sure they are an ok shop but I wasn't going to give them any business because of the jerk off and made sure everyone there, including customers heard me.

dropped my 99 a4 off there for some routine service several years ago (the ashburn location)... they completed it, no problem (overpriced, but did good work). they also told me they had some recommended service that should be done. The price estimate came to $5600! Now, there was nothing actually wrong with the car, this was just stuff that they thought should be done! I just laughed at them, and have not been back since.

Curry was good a few years back. Now that they are on an major expansion mode,
they are dropping the ball big time. They are not what they were.

If you have the high end cars shop around. Their pricing is almost as high as
the dealer now. Yes I know Pat Goss use to recommend them. They also were advertising on WMAL back when.

Instead of being honest they will slowly milk your pockets on Audi's BMWs as
well as most European cars. They would be more honest to recommend you selling
the car and buying a new vehicle.

For basic service they are fine technical stuff they are more like
sales people anywhere
