How many will get pink slips this week due to AM?

Get ready for a shit storm cheaters! My guess is at least 20k are fired because of AM this week. Any other guesses?

Some companies will move quickly, especially if there are clearances involved. Other firings may involve some investigating. I think it will ramp up but keep moving for a while.

20K altogether is not a bad number though.

Two sets of two words -- "wrongful termination" and "big bucks". I think my ship just came in!

Not wrongful termination if they were using their work computers and email accounts. All companies make it very clear that wrongful use of company computers, networks, accounts, etc can result in immediate termination.

Only if the employer was already looking to fire you. I doubt anybody will get fired. Very hard to prove, to many possibilities.

3 magic words

"at will employment"

No reason needed to fire-company can just up and decide they don't want players, so out they go.

In this clearance happy town, that's another angle, no clearance, no job.

I'm sure your employer would like you to believe that, but it isn't true. Firing an employee because his or her name was on some AM list would create a feeding frenzy field day for labor lawyers.

AM didn't validate email addresses. I cannot believe that so many guys would stupidly use their work email address for this. Free/Burner email has been around for decades.

Terminating someone over this would require more information than what would be found in the AM data dump. That would be difficult for an employer to do. Maybe someone investigating a clearance could dig into it, but that would take time.

I could have created an account as William "Bill" Jefferson Clinton. I could have used his whitehouse.gov email address. I could have used a Visa gift card to pay for the site. I could have uploaded pictures of Slick Willie himself.

... that could have happened to anybody.

The most action one could take against someone on that list is to justify digging deeper.

Actually the govt has access to all the data now - chats, pictures, messages etc so with that info the case could be made for a govt or a military or contractor to be fired. All these cheaters claiming I only were on once will have a hard time explaining the millions of penjs pictures sent.

Not true at all. Most companies, and especially the government and contractors can easily investigate everything an employee does on their computer and their network. If not their system administrator should be fired.

Umm, if you don't fire them, and they still keep showing up and working there, they're still employees. In short "no need to fire" is absolutely 100% wrong you stupid cock-eater. Jesus Christ, you are too stupid for words. Or maybe have never had a job.

The Pentagon is investigating service members who used the site. They will likely make a couple heads roll. I glanced at part of a list and saw a Cdr on there. He is likely screwed.

they can fire you for anything they want to, AND they don't have to tell you why. it might be because you're too fat, or wear the color red too much. that's legally FINE.

it's not sex discrimination because both men and women used the site and were exposed. I can't even imagine any other discrimination you might think it would be to fire these idiots, but I think you're probably wrong.

As has been pointed out now by others, the simple appearance of being listed on the AM site is insufficient evidence of anything. The site did no verification of data at all. It is all presumptively false. Use of it as basis or justification for adverse action of any sort would open doors of liability. And these governments you all speak of so feely tend not to be at-will employers at all. As an employee of the government that includes the Pentagon for instance, one can only be terminated for cause. And at-will employers themselves are not free to fire anyone for anything. They would like you to believe that they are, and like sheep you do, but as thousands of wrongful termination suits prove every year, this is not the case.

Bullshit. In Va you can be let go for any reason unless you are in a contract that states otherwise or unless its a form of discrimination.

If you are a lawyer you must be an unemployed one.

Edit - if someone gets fired for the AM thing and another known player (who didnt use AM) doesn't, than that's discrimination. Unless the fired person was informed that the firing is due to his/her name becoming public.
There are jobs where that could compromise your effectiveness.

I went out to my car to get something and saw a guy I sort of know loading boxes into his car.

He said the company (a big one) had received guidance that 'certain listing behaviors' on AM would result in clearance problems. He was given the option of quitting as opposed to being fired, and since he's not on the job any more, his clearance is unlikely to be suspended. He does not know what will happen if he tried to get a clearance again.

He said he knew at least one very senior in the company got the same message this morning.

To get this done quickly, people who take the Metro are being offered car service to get their stuff (and them) out today.

This sucks.

In other words, you went and googled stuff and found out that everything you said before was bullshit.

Of course you're right--just stupidity. But here's my *guess* at why some of them did it:
- work had sites blocked BUT
- there was no evidence of anyone looking at logs

Ergo, sez someone who isn't thinking things through, no reason not to use work email.

Surprise...

The impending terminations (and future unemployability) of millions of workers should create plenty of employment/advancement opportunities for the rest of us!

As to those fired, I suppose the government could set up some sort of infrastructural work project, as FDR did in the 1930s. These folks can build dams and bridges, and fight forest fires.

Ashley Madison required credit cards for an account. People probably thought that their credit card name and address would not be disclosed to the web.

All I can tell you is that at least one DoD component locally, if you and your cc are on the AM list, you are being scheduled for a security interview.

The RUMOR is that civilian employees and contractors are being escorted out. Uniformed personnel are being moved to nonsensitive jobs.

I guess I'm not sure about the firings. If you used your company's email Addy to register, then you're dumb and I understand discipline. And I suppose folks in positions w high levels of clearance. The average joe/jane that did it on their own time, computer/cell shouldn't have much to worry about aside taking care of things on the home front. Plus, how do you reconcile the difference btwn the legit cheater, the browser or the person in an open marriage?

If you tried to impose a morality clause -- particularly one proscribing in general terms one's engagement in perfectly legal off-duty conduct and behavior -- you are in trouble.

For government and military, this will amount to nothing. Private sector is a bit different and some may indeed get fired.

As for the clearance implications, I would suspect ONLY those sensitive jobs that also require polygraphs will be an issue. The rest will not.

If he quit he is a big dummy! He should have let them fire him so he could get unemployment!
