Police identified the deceased man as 25-year-old Mohammed Moshin Najim.
A man said that he heard someone on the ground yell "someone please help me." He did not know where it came from but saw a neighbor open the door and look down. According to the man, the neighbor said to the person on the ground, "I shot you because you tried to break into my house."
Neighbors say that the victim had banged on the door hard and loud -- one man said he did it in a "threatening manner" --- trying to get into the house.
