But what? In Virginia someone with a CCW could have stopped it, but as she states with all the people in the train car others could have been shot as bullets pass through the killer or missed. Very True.

The killer was short around 5 feet 6 inches and only 125 pounds, But young and mean and holding a bloody knife. Others were terrified and he robbed several after he killed the young man taking money at knife point.

This is a terrifying situation, The only good thing I can say is that it was the first murder on a Metro train in the 40 years of Metro History. Hopefully it will be the last But.. you never know and DC is a Self Defense prohibited zone, a "Gun Free Zone" So you simply a sitting duck , at least for now as their is a movement in Congress to allow CCW carry in ever state if your a law abiding person in one that issues you the permit. Good Law I say but its not here yet. So What would you have done on that train??

I would have done as one victim who was robbed and thought her older father would be stabbed. As he too was robbed and got blood of the man killed on him as he gave the killer money. I would make myself as small as possible and keep my mouth shut and hope he does not pick me out to be the next victim. What else is there to do?? I do have another plan but it would take a .38 to pull of and that's not in the cards. Not going to happen in the Defenseless Zone. I'm just like all others there, a sitting duck playing the odds.

I would have driven home and avoided Metro.

Time for DC government to wise up and allow an armed citizenry.

I will say he took his chances with his weak Liberal punchable victim face on Metro and he would have been one of the first protesters if a DC Concealed Carry Law was passed by Congress that could have saved his life.

But still I do feel bad about what happened to him. I wish it never happened , that he lived his life as he thought right and saw the many things in life that give us all joy. The victim did not get "what he deserved" he had his feelings, and as an American he was entitled to who ever he voted for.

Knifes are very fickle weapons, Even a small little knife that the killer used has a blade 1 " wide, That's wider then a bullet track, a single stab can kill you the blade cutting a artery and you bleed to death. Many people cut feel ok then 5 minutes later they feel week then pass out, its like playing Russian Roulette dealing with some one with a knife. I have seen people cut by a person with a knife twice fighting, In both cases the other fighter who was unarmed was cut along the arm and bled like hell. Then they quit the fight. And you don't need a CCW for a small knife. With a blade up to.. I don't know, It differs depending where you are but I think it may be 3 1/2 inches in Virginia. And the Va. CCW permit is also for carrying a handgun.. not a knife. So if its too long a concealed "weapon" bust may be possible even if you have a CCW . That's what I have been told. I don't carry any super long blades unless open carry while hunting and that's been along time ago.

I am surprised I don't see anyone calling for a ban on knives.

Most of the people were in shock, they said they did not know what to do. it happened pretty quick really between the Rhode Island and NoMa stations on Red line. 3 minutes they say though it looks like the train would have done that stretch quicker. This could have been any of us. We don't really know how we'd respond until we're in the situation. When I was mugged, I think I even had my pepper spray and all I did was hand over the money just praying the fiends would go away.

I avoid Metro now. When I used to ride it, it would make me sick anyway (manual braking and lurching, the smell of the brakes), whereas other subway systems don't. Maybe it is smoother now - don't know.
