Wegman's Food line and people touching Food
Posted by: Bill S ()
Date: July 08, 2015 09:12AM

Could not believe what I saw yesterday. Young Asian woman goes up to the Asian area food bar and with her fingers grabs a Chinese pancake and tears it in half. She eats 1/2 of it right there and then puts the other piece back. Then she goes around the other side of the bar and puts some type of soup in a cup and drinks it and puts the cup down.

I cannot believe that security cameras or people are not watching this area closer. These people should be banned for life from the store. Makes you wonder how many people fill up food boxes in the store, walk out shopping, and then leave the carton in the store.

I have also seen customers touch bagels or bakery goods and then not buy them.

Disclaimer: I rarely go to Wegman's mostly to get a sub sandwich where I can see it being made.

Never will I buy anything from that Food Court area. Never!!!

Causeican: I think that's why so many people go to this store. The theft rate and the store is so big "anything goes". Probably more the rule than the exception.
Not just Asian "OK" but many different foreigners. Their you have it.

I mostly go to Giant or Harris Teeter where I feel safer in buying goods....

As Asians go, the Chinese are the worst. The majority of them take, take, take.

In general the Korean and Japanese and decent people that do not expect everything be handed/given to them and they work very hard to assimilate into the US culture.

Just go to Costco and watch who actually "eats lunch" by sampling all the food that is out at the end of the isle with the promotional people.

I have a very good friend, Cambodian, that actually made it very clear to me after thinking about a sale of a house many years ago to a Chinese person. My friend stated without missing a beat, "the Chinese are the Jews of Asia". This was about 15 years ago and he could not have been more on the money.

I have many Asian familys that live in my neighborhood and most of them are very good neighbors but you need to watch the houses where the parents do not live with the high school and college age kids because they rarely keep up the houses, only repair them when it is time to sell and make a profit.

You are dead on right about most of your post. Have some neighbors that are Vietnamese and they are fantastic people. Work very hard just good people.
So you don't like the Jews or Chinks huh?

What about the Spics, Micks, Whops, to name a few.
I won't go to a non-white doctor or dentist for anything in NoVa. Never.
My motto is "you can't get brain surgery for a dollar and a quarter".

We are getting off subject a bit, but this Wegman's fiasco I witnessed yesterday just soured my on that store.

I have nothing about Jewish or Chinese people. My next door neighbor is Chinese and they are not the "typcial" Chinese families you have to watch out for.

I was just repeating whay my Cambodian friend stated and he was for the most part dead nuts on.

I am fully tolerant of most people assuming they are not totally self abosorbed, there are plenty of Causcasian/White people in Fairfax that are totally self absorbed ass holes as well. I have a number of them in my neighborhood and have no time for these tools either.

I saw a fat white woman and her husband do a similar thing at Costco. She brought a large thermos bottle and filled it with coke. She then filled an insulated plastic bag with the ice and emptied the ice machine.

In Asian markets, you can see people have eaten fruits and nuts in the storage bins. Inshell peanuts have been mostly shelled.

Seriously, I was at the deli at BJs and an old white man was asking to sample everything he was planning to buy. This went on for 20 or so minutes. I got pissed and asked him if he was just trying to get a meal deal. He said no way I just need to know what I'm buying. I asked the employee to call the manager which she did and he was asked to leave.

I see people in Shoppers walking through the aisles eating fruit, ice cream (dixie cups come with their own spoon), chips, etc. They discard the evidence before getting anywhere near a checkout line.

Stores don't care about that kind of shoplifting.

I have seen this type of behavior a few different times, I don't think it's too common, but it should be addressed immediately. What I can't believe is you think some Wegman's mook is monitoring every security camera and is going to intervene in a timely manner. This was an opportunity for you to man-up say something. First, by telling her what she was doing is unsanitary, inappropriate, etc., and if you don't have the stones do that, go to an employee or manager immediately. If someone wants to sample food/steal food in a sanitary manner, I am leaving that to the store to deal with. But, if someone is touching food they aren't going to purchase and leave it behind, I don't care about their race, gender, or size... I say something.

A few years ago at Whole Foods, they used to have various rolls and baked goods in plexi-glass bins, with a door/lid you needed to open. One used tongs or a piece of provided wax paper to take what you wanted and put it into a bag. Some old piece of shit woman had her bare hands in a bin and was squeezing every roll. I watched for a few seconds before I not so politely asked her what the hell she was doing and pointed out that others might not be interested in purchasing the rolls handled by her. Would she be interested in buying the rolls if she knew I had squeezed everyone with my dirty hands....etc. ? There was no shame or recognition that what she was doing was wrong. In fact, she didn't seem to even get it and had some kind of lame come-back. I thought later perhaps she had some sort of dementia or mental illness. Anyway, the manager said he would empty the bin, and presumably he said something to the woman.

But seriously, who watches people handle food they don't buy and gets on the internet to complain about it....but is too meek contemporaneously stand up and say something. Btw...maybe that sub roll they use to make your sandwich comes from the same place where you have seen customers touching the bakery goods. It may have had a life before the Wegman's employee uses it to make your lunch.

I totally agree that people need to speak up when these things happen. I observed a young Asian lady (at Whole Foods) place her full shopping basket on the salad bar counter...almost overhanging half of the Caesar pasta salad I was planning on getting. I don't even want to imagine what kind of shit might have been on the bottom of that basket.

First, I told her to remove her basket as it was unsanitary. She just ignored me so I stopped a worker and pointed it out to him. He grabbed the basket and handed it to the lady, letting her know that this was not allowed. He then grabbed the dirty tray and took it away.

That lady was freaking clueless. But at least she has somewhat of a clue now.

To Civic Duty and the rest from OP: You really think telling the Mgr would have done any good. Maybe telling the lady would help you feel better, I agree with that. The dumb bitch Asian I saw do it probably didn't would most likely pull a "dumb down look" and no speakie English.

But about the cake being eaten above, I say it's par for the course. We've all seen it. I even spoke to the Mgr at a local Giant and they told me they scolded the people the caught, also foreigners, but never called the police because they didn't want to 1) Get involved or 2) get shot or retaliated against.

These same people will continue to steal and so will their kids because they will not tell them the difference. It's the norm for them today. Monkey see Monkey do!!

Stuff like this pisses me off. I'll bet the people who touch food at a buffet and then just leave it there don't wash their hands after using the bathroom, either. It's disgusting. Same thing with picking through freshly made bagels with your bare hands - it is gross to touch food that is ready to eat and can't be washed off.

The produce section at the grocery store is not the same thing. Yes, I am going to pick up a cucumber or an apple and look it over before I buy it. I also know that I will wash produce before I eat it. I would not go to a salad bar and started picking through the various bins with my fingers because that is food that is meant to be consumed right away w/o any prep.

Common freakin' sense. Why do some people have NONE.

It's not just foreigners. Human nature is the same with all races and ethnic groups - they all have their fair share of dumbasses.

Last week I was staying a fairly nice hotel and they had a complimentary coffee and juice bar. A nice set-up. So I am waiting for my ride in the lobby and some white redneck woman walks up to the coffee and juice machines with a large handbag. Whips out a half dozen or so large thermos-style containers. Proceeds to fill all of them with juice.

Well, all of them she could before she drained the machine. When she ran the orange juice empty she switched to apple and then cranberry. Making it even more amusing was that she could not fit the containers under the nozzle. So she held it sideways until it started to spill then took the small cups provided for guest use and filled and poured until her containers were full.

Left all the juice machines empty and sloppy mess all over the counter. Who does that? If you can afford to stay in that hotel you can't be that hard up that you need to take advantage of some free breakfast juice. I assumed redneck btw because of the tattoos...

All of these have happened recently, not years and years ago:

I saw a white guy sipping the juice out of the ladle at the olive bar at the Fox Mill Giant.

I saw a white woman put her diapered child's nasty ass on the counter at McDonalds.

I saw a 25-ish white dude throw a cigarette butt out of the window. He was driving a car with dealership plates. That was this morning.

Disgusting comes in all races. But I could keep coming up with examples of White people being disgusting, all day long.

Really? Fascinating story you have there. Now, please explain why all non-Whites around the world are dying to get into White built nations. Because of White people's cleanliness and standard of living. It is the White race that has cured simple diseases while non Whites are still dying from them in droves. It is the White race that perfected piping clean water to hundreds of millions of homes in the neighborhoods that they built.

Good luck lol

Let's face it people. Asians are mostly cheap and known to care advantage of free food at buffets. Yes, it is a fact especially of this area.
As someone else said in another post, they will go to buffets and box up food and take it to their cars and then come back and eat when the regular crowd eats.
