UPDATE – Suspects Identified and Charged in Recent School Vandalisms

Detectives investigating these two school vandalisms identified and charged four suspects – two adults and two juveniles. Ryan Jeffrey Wait, 18, of 11706 Great Owl Circle in Reston and a 17-year-old male from the Reston area were each charged with one count of defacing public property, a misdemeanor, for the vandalism at Herndon High School. Wait was arrested on June 24.
Two males are charged in the South Lakes High School vandalism. A warrant is outstanding for an 18-year-old Reston-area man who is out of the area for the summer. A 17-year-old male from the Herndon area was also charged with one count of defacing public property.
Although these vandalisms were not solved through Crime Solvers tips, the Fairfax County Crime Solvers Board of Directors is pleased that detectives were able to successfully close these cases.

Crime Solvers Seeks Suspects in Recent School Vandalisms
Fairfax County Crime Solvers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects who recently vandalized the football fields at Herndon High School and South Lakes High School.
The first incident occurred at Herndon High School between 11 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, and 8 a.m. on Monday, June 1. The second incident occurred at South Lakes High School between 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, and 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 7.
The suspects spray-painted derogatory, bias phrases and inappropriate images on the football fields of both schools, causing more than $6,000 in damage to both turf fields.
