July 4th Virginia State Police Report
Posted by: Stats Facts ()
Date: July 07, 2015 10:30AM

During the holiday weekend, VSP participated in Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.), an annual, state-sponsored, national program that encourages law enforcement agencies to increase visibility and traffic enforcement efforts on major travel holidays.

As part of Operation C.A.R.E., VSP troopers arrested 96 impaired drivers for DUI, 19 more DUI arrests than were made during last July 4 weekend.

In addition to DUI arrests, troopers also cited nearly 9,000 speeders and another 2,200-plus reckless drivers statewide. Troopers also cited 822 safety belt violations and 327 child safety seat violations, according to the VSP news release.

1. 9,000 people that couldn't outrun the cops.
2. 327 people that should not have re-produced if they can't properly secure a child safety seat.

Everything I learned about driving, I learned from the Dukes of Hazzard

Sliding/drifting the car, outrunning the law, and jumping the creek. They were all learned by watching that good 'ol CBS program from 1979-1985.

Ahh, the good 'ol days.

If you watched the Dukes of Hazzard you're a racist.

But that was a long time ago. No redemption?
Half the country is racist, apparently.

That car had a huge Confederate flag on the roof. That is a symbol of racism and oppression of the African American people. A proud people, and we should not look fondly on a symbol of racism.

Remove the flag everywhere.

Keep in mind this was just the state troopers, the real numbers I'm sure will be much higher, and kept low key During an Election year.

Cha Ching!

The avg speeding ticket fine is about $200 (with court costs). Reckless fines are usually upwards of $500 depending on your record. That's some serious coinage.

i hopped out of the house 4th of july night to get air, tired of work for day

i was worried there might be drunk drivers and such

fairfax was dead few cars on the road and no signs of parties or even peopel making beer runs really. less traffic than usual.

i did see 6 east-indian hidus coming out of a mattress store at 12:30 AM and two mattress store employees watching them get in a mini-van

I SAW NO-ONE driving fast or weaving after driving tens of miles in all - not many on road altogether

driving through a few neighborhoods: all lights were out no parties evident, and all stores closed

any report saying there were elevated alcohol arrests: probably a lie from the police dept then
