You are incorrect. That deputy is bound by the no tobacco use rule. Only deputies hired prior to 1984 are grandfathered and may use tobacco products, he was not hired prior to 1984. That said, the rule is not enforced which is why a large percentage of deputies use tobacco products openly while they are off duty. It is not just Kincaid that does not enforce this policy, neither Barry or Peed enforced it either.

So. let me get this straight. If a deputy comes down with lung cancer and he was hired prior to 1984 we the tax payers have to pay for his or her medical expenses ? If a deputy hired after 1984 we don't have to pay for his medical treatment. So, as a Captain of the organization wouldn't he try to lead by example. Seems like he is just being a hypocrite. Allow me to respond to some of your points.

"She is loved by the citizens" That is incorrect. Most voters in Fairfax have no idea who the sheriff is, those that are aware are mostly aware of the recent death at the jail and the criticism received by the press for not being open about what happened.

"She is not the one who Tased the poor woman" Correct, but she is in charge of the agency. She has been a deer in the headlights since this happened. She did not reassign or restrict the duties of the officers involved which is pretty standard throughout public safety. She did not order the halt of taser use or the retraining of officers until months afterward and being literally forced into the decision by other politicians. She has not even offered basic information about what occurred, the information that is in the public domain was leaked by one of her staff to the Washington Post.

"She has made drastic improvements in the office that people don't see" You are right, people don't see any improvements. Deputies do not see any improvements and say that she spends all of her time doing political events.

She is hoping that someone else (police, commonwealth attorney, FBI) will make a decision so that she does not have to.

"It was an accident" Agreed. No one in that incident meant to kill McKenna. The drunk that kills a family in a crash meant to kill no one. The person playing with a firearm that kills someone did not mean to kill. Just because the ultimate outcome was an accident does not mean that it was not preventable and that there should not be consequences.

The reason there is so much debate is that Kincaid and her supporters are going to try everything they can to make the McKenna incident play out after the election. If they can kick this can down the road she most likely wins in a county that votes democrat and a challenger that looks like he may be underfunded. If the video comes out before the election, it is over and they know it.

The other reason there is a lot of debate is that you have strong feelings on either side about Kincaid. Kincaid is very popular with the democrat activists in fairfax. She attends pretty much everything they invite her to and is genuinely likable and very friendly with them. She is also popular with a small circle of deputies who have been given the freedom to rule the sheriffs department because she has no interest in doing so. These groups fight fiercely to keep her in power because they genuinely see her as being a good person and a good leader.

Then you have the majority of deputies who do not like her. They see her as being out only for what is good for Stacey and not very concerned about the deputies or the policies that affect them. This is not something that has happened in the last year that she was sheriff, it is something that she has built in her long career with the sheriffs office. Her MO is that she is very respectful, nice and friendly to you as long as she needs you. When she feels she no longer needs you, she discards you quickly. This group of people desperately want her out of the sheriffs office and will do almost anything to see that happen.

You also have the b.a. Wolfe people who are on here constantly and their agenda is clear.

So, it will be a shitfest on here until after the election.

The whole Fairfax County Government is corrupt. They all hide so much from the citizens.

Bettina Lawton is a great auxiliary deputy sheriff. He has served the office well. He might not show up for work when he is suppose to but that doesn't mean that he isn't a great asset. He is a good man. He does choose to use the transgender restroom though? That is no reason to ridicule him.
