I grew up without cable. The only time I ever saw it was when I went to the library in Fairfax or a neighbor's house. Grew up with 4,5,7,9,20 and 26.

Cable TV is a huge waste of money. Pay a huge monthly fee for content that you use less than 1% of? Get your local stations for free via digital broadcast then use Amazon prime and/or netflix to watch exactly what you want and when you want for a couple/few hundred bucks a year. Only a fool would pay for cable in today's world.

in the 80's "pay tv" advertised that once people started paying for tv there would not be commercials - that only free tv on the air would

they lied

in the late 1990's bill clinton agencies advertised the poor would get "free internet and phone" because they were essential

we get: gov expendaturs $$$ kids who throw away phones for upgrades, people who get 2000 channles and free "home security. box units that get replaced even when the customer says NO they say "it's for compatibility we have to" (7 times?): and ever higher cable bills
