That was pretty much the heyday of the Town Center. We had a fairly new and good Mexican food thing going there (Rio Grande), with scads of street level parking. Now is feels more like Reston Cram Center. Artificial "town" (more like open air "mall" environment) in the middle of nowhere. But not as "in the middle of nowhere" as Short Pump Town Center in the suburbs of Richmond.

New York? You can't be serious. It's not even close to Arlington. It's like Fairfax Town Center or Dulles Town Center or Pentagon Row. It's nothing more than a fancy strip mall with a phony "nouveau riche" feel.

It's not like Arlington at all. Arlington has different neighborhoods you can walk to. RTC is an office park with an outdoor shopping center in the middle of it.

What community isn't "manufactured"? Do they all just build themselves?

If Reston wasn't planned, it would probably end up looking like Sterling or some awful mirage of Maryland.
