There's a huge bamboo forest of sorts in fox mill estates, in the woods past the houses at the end of classic ct. Beware, black widow spiders abound there.
Are you sure you want to plant Bamboo around your home? Bamboo grows like a weed; the roots spread underground sending up shoots yards away and require almost constant maintenance.
My neighbor spent nearly 3 years destroying a "bamboo fence" the previous owners plantd. It had spread to the common area and quckly grew out of control. It is hardy and immunne to most parasites and chemicals.
But ... if you must, the best FREE source of a large growth of bamboo is at the Waples Mill/Fox Mill traffic light intersect

Good advice. I've had enough bamboo experiences to last me a lifetime and
it certainly doesnt appeal to me, but to each his own. If you want some
free bamboo all you have to do is find someone who has it growing and
they will probably thank you for helping them either thin it out or
chop it down entirely. I too have a neighbor who thought it would be easy
to manage but found out quickly that the most effective control was
a machete and a lot of hard work.
A guy I grew up with in Fox Mill grew a special variety to use as panda food at the nat. zoo. I believe the San Diego zoo has or had a panda and also would have this guy ship his bamboo to them. The guy's backyard was just a fucking perimeter of grass and then this dense-as-iron thicket of bamboo that was probably 40 by 40 feet.
Oh my gosh...make sure you don't steal anything. The thread about the license plates has everyone running to police. Such goodies in this county, so why is it MS 13 is running around? I am surprised all of these law abiding citizens haven't joined up with FCPD to put a stop to the gang violence.
