If you want to watch grown men dress up like Dungeons and Dragons characters and beat on each other with toy swords, go to Lee District on late Sunday afternoons. There mustve been 200 nerds out there ! Hilarious!

Do they let them to do this on the turf fields? Don't those catapults kind of tear things up?
And, personal preference aside, is this any worse than middle aged men and women who think they can "coach" just about any sport? They do that on weekends, and then head back to their insurance sales job on Monday (and they got that job with an online degree, since they probably flunked out of a real school).
And, I'll just bet, some of those LARP chicks are pretty hot in their chainmail or whatever.

I've never seen more than a dozen people practicing with swords at Lee. 200 would be an awesome turnout. Bet the kids on the playground got an eyeful.
VA Fencing Acad has lessons in historical swordsmanship. Never got around to it personally, but it looked like fun.
If that's your thing, I say rock on. Pretending to be a medieval knight once a week beats the hell out of pretending to be important 24-7, which is what most people around here do.

Fun thing about LARP are the cosplay chicks! Fat or gay guys make up the majority of your competition. The other guys that don't fall into that category are more interested in showing off their Pokemon collection than they are women.

Seems you guys haven't seen the massive Internet culture based around LARP in the first place, hot girls with actual lives included. Also, I don't mind if you dislike the hobby; really, if you'd rather sit on a couch and chug beers while shouting at a televised sport, that's all you; it ain't my place to judge. What I DO mind is that you sound like you're judging your interest in these events by how beautiful the girls are.
