Drag Racing incinterated in Fairfax County Sunday

Today in the Wash. Post, there was a story about drag racing in Southern FFX Cnty down at the Lorton incinterator / transfer station.

About a mile and a half road leads back there and apparently much of it is straight -

60+ "arrests" made (although nothing showed up in the arrest search feature for recent days: http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/cgi-bin/searcharrests.cgi )

Reminds me of when 130+ were caught in Fauquier County back in 1992 ;-)

Anyone hear more about this??

Back in the day-1980's, FFX County Police would show and sit in their Patrol Cars in the middle of the drag racing group. That pretty much put a stop to everything, especially since some cars weren't street legal. Everybody just broke it up and moved on. We got the hint.

Police Intercept Street Racing Crowd

More than 50 people were arrested early Sunday morning after officers intercepted a crowd setting up to street race. Police were called to the Fairfax County Energy Resource Recovery Facility, located at 9850 Furnace Road in the Lorton area, around 1:45 a.m. on July 16. They observed numerous vehicles on the facility’s property setting their cars up to drag race. Officers acted quickly and blocked the vehicles in before the races began.

Officers charged 59 adults and two juveniles with trespassing on private property.

That is the same thing I was charged with back in 2002 in Fauquier County.

Beat the charges, as it was not properly posted.

There were two small signs a fair distance from the entrance, neither was lit.

The next day, workers nailed new signs every 3rd or 4th tree to say "No Trespassing"

Aslo, the property owner - in the case here, the county, has to TELL them to leave prior to the incident.

The summons is an "arrest," technically - just one you can go home on ;)
