Flip Flippen, consultant to FCPS, says if you have a kid's heart, you have his head, no need for a belt.

Eric Jensen, consultant to FCPS, is an expert on teaching with poverty in mind. A belt is not part of it.

Boosterthon runs rampant throughout FCPS with lessons on character, leadership, and fitness. Belts are not part of the program.

Ryan McElveen would scream about how the "goddamn rights" of transexual students were being violated. Angela Atwater, Ed.D., has already drafted a letter closing the matter. Steve Lockard, Ph.D., just won't respond. Karen Garza, planning the next FCPS Orlando retreat, could not be reached for comment.

Who needs belts when you have psychotherapists (with psychiatric hospital privileges, no less), English teachers who are "brain based learning" experts, professional church planters and fraternity organizers in charge of the kids' behavior?

Go FCPS!

From the video and the behavior exhibited in it it's quite obvious that he's probably already working at a title 1 school.

Just think how different this story would be if it were a white guy using the belt on those kids.

Local news showed the video to a few minority parents in the neighborhood.

They seemed to indicate that the kids disrespected and did not listen to the teacher and the teacher went "old school" on the kids and this was probably needed.

I agree.

Smart ass kids that nobody has disciplined or knocked any sense in their head.

Keep letting them run wild, they will be on a shopping spree after they riot in PG somewhere!

There are kids who will learn. Then, there are kids who won't learn without parental involvement. There are also those who will never learn.

If the parents can't make the time to come supervise junior if he won't behave in class, or make him do his homework/required reading/etc., there's not a whole lot the best teacher in the world could do.

When I was in school, I was always afraid of the threat of "reform school". Does that even exist anymore? I only knew of a few expulsions that occurred when I was in school. There were a couple of thieves who jacked open lockers, and a guy who broke a pipe in the bathroom on the 2nd floor causing a lot of damage.

Even the worst of the kids in my school had at least a certain amount of fear of authority. I think that is one big thing that is lacking today.

The reason they have no fear of authority is that there is no authority is the schools. Everyone's hands are tied because of fear of bad publicity, violating someone's rights, parent appeals to the principal, cluster leader, and on and on up the ladder, and kids who say no to their teachers and get away with it just like they say no to their parents and get away with it. They believe they are in charge; they are the ones with the authority.

Give that guy a LEADERSHIP position in FCPS. Send Garza back to Texas. We don't need McElveen and his fixations on transgender rights and teenage prom dates.
