Today I was volunteering at this elementary school in FCPS and I was very mad at what happen... This Asian second grader told me she was never taught "multiplication" When I was in second grader I was taught how to Multiply.... what changed?

Multiplication comes at the end of the year, but not up to the 12s. That is the goal in 3rd grade. They just get a little bit of the concept in second. If they are going to an AAP Center for they need to learn the facts over the summer, if they don't already know them.

They know how to multiply, so does Latisha and Donte, as does Mo'hamhead and Burkhedafeces. They are changing America one litter at a time.

My 7th grader is learning quadratic equations. Seriously. I didnt get to those until much later in my education. He will be doing multivariable calculus calculus before he leaves HS. Basically he will have completed 1st year college math for engineers.

I know. but now they can be introduced to things likes "trans-gender", gay, lesbian, and bi lifestyles ....

geez obsess much? There is not much of anything going on sexual in the 2nd grade douche. If you personally think about transgender, gay, lesbian and bi all the time I wont say anything against it but for the more main stream people these things just really do not come up very often.

fcps math is soooooo slow

they never hit the cores either, 1/10 substance, 9/10 high level bullcrap that kids can't do because they never mastered cores

your only hope is to get a good middle school math teacher, elementary math is terrible

bull. if he did the real course he wouldn't understand it. its a HS version intented to sound important. your full of crap.

Math is different now and I think better . The early curriculum is more about understanding Math then just memorizing. Abstract thinking begins earlier

when i was in 7th grade: signed up for language class (ap) - they put me in then refused to give me a book and then kicked me out a week later without explination

when i was in 7th grade: a nigger teacher nearly kicked me out for complaining the class was too slow and asking algebra questions / if we could learn algebra a while (bet she didn't know much - i was probably asking the WRONG person). also penalized me on tests for showing advanced work - when i was ill the day and was doing makeup exam (bitch probably hated me for not failing - so failed me anyway)

^^ ill the day the lesson was taugh and homework given. i had already studied it at home

i hated FCPS they were an authority structure that gave good grades esp. to teacher's kids , harassed student , and held back learning

always harassing me and stalking my grades because i could not hear well. (most, not all, teachers)

there is simply no doubt FCPS was deep into favoritism and "adjusting grades" while attacking others

Similar for Cursive.

Recent 3rd grade in PWC... only were taught half before the year ended, and not on a broad spectrum.

it is not better, they never learn the cores! they fall apart in high school because the foundation is not solid enough. that is why the us is last in stem fields, the math program is terrible. memorizing does not hurt a child, knowing basics is like brushing your teeth or making a bed, quit molly coddling

Students have problems in upper grades because multiplication is not being taught.

Drill is boring according to present education advocates.

STUDENTS ARE BECOMING DUMB....AND THEY WONDER WHY.

THEY Need to teach the kids how to operate lawn mowers and tree trimmers.
Also, siding for the Koreans and other Gooks.....FAIRFAX SCHOOLS now suck.

no common sense when it comes to math, 80% of the graduates and their parents wouldn't be able to compute how much fencing is needed for a yard, high gpa kids would be fired in general industry but they all want to walk into a workplace and be the manager

The AP multivar calc class that a few high schools in this area provide is a tough as nails course that almost no one takes. It's definitely the real class and it's definitely providing some added strength to the students who work hard to understand it. Acting like it's all bull shit when you probably had no idea the class was provided is bull shit.

there are 2 AP calc classes offered in HS, few make it to the 2nd

the curriculum sequence is flawed, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calc, then AP calc which forces kids to choose AP stat or discrete math (not good for college prep) if they don't want AP calc. they need to offer regular calc which is a better prep for college calc.

they still can't get kids through algebra 1 by 8th grade because elementary math is so freakin slow

fcps knows everything so don't try to tell them why their model isn't working, all the admn were education majors not people who work in careers that use high level math
