Three high schools in the Fairfax area have been ranked among the 2015 “Best High Schools in Nation,” according to new rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

Released Tuesday, the 2015 rankings include data on more than 21,150 public high schools across the country. The list also includes state rankings.

To determine the rankings, U.S. News used math and readings scores from state proficiency tests, as well as “the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work,” using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data.

W.T. Woodson High School ranked 3rd in Virginia and No. 111 in the nation.
Fairfax High School ranked 10th in Virginia and No. 274 in the nation.
James W. Robinson Secondary School ranked 13th in Virginia and No. 302 in the nation.

Virginia’s top school is Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, according to U.S. News.

See the complete rankings and more information at U.S. News online.

FCPS trolls are sent by the GOP to spread bullshit around here because this is a swing district. Anyone who's actually been to a Fairfax school knows they are one of the best systems in the country, with the most advanced placement and college course availabilities, safe, and getting a good GPA from one means being able to get into great colleges.

End of story. The bumfucks can return to Alabami if they don't like it.

Congratulations to retired principal Jeff Yost for creating the environment that enabled Woodson to receive this high honor. Turns out that putting the students first is a winning strategy.

And all across the vast Woodson campus you can hear cries of,

"We're Number 3!"
"We're Number 3!"
"We're Number 3!"

Except in the football locker room where they are chanting, "We're Number 27!" or something like that.

I hope you all realize that many high schools in the US don't send in any statistics and are not ranked because they could care less about this stuff.

Especially when they are majority black, in which case they don't want to advertise that their test scores are lower than that of a typical dog kennel.

TJ might be number one on that list, but colleges and universities don't like there over focus on STEM.

It's only #1 for the state.

It's #3 nationwide.

1. School for the Talented and Gifted, Dallas
2. BASIS, Scottsdale

4 of the top 10 are in TX.
3 in AZ
1 in GA
1 in SC
1 in VA

What do the top schools all have in common? Few blacks bringing them down. Not racist, just an undeniable fact.

We can fix this. Need to redistrict more kids to Woodson from Annandale and the other side of Fairfax City.

School rankings are big business, and not just for the mags that publish these lists. Over at Gatehouse some high-paid analysts and their paid consultants will be receiving awards for submitting winning packages. The Chamber of Commerce and Business Development people will be hawking this report as they recruit businesses to Fairfax County. And every real estate firm is updating their sell sheets this morning.

My house is worth $12K more because it is located in a top-ranked school cluster. How about yours?

We have highly educated parents in this area, and affluent. Their children should be well educated - no surprise here.

If the school system can't do a good job educating these students - heaven help them.

The schools in NOVA could be better.

I used to coach at a much smaller school in ffx.. fuck those guys and their coaches. At the meets they act like pro's being in it for their reputation not the kids

They dicked over my student-athletes and robbed them because big schools like Robinson AREN'T suppose to lose to nobodies from, oh let's say Stuart or Falls Church. They were pretty much immune to from all disqualifications.

hey your local polititians are telling you your lucky to be ALIVE and your among the top 3

looks like it's time to stop watching how much money they are spending and never ever challenge their "authority" over you

--------------------------
OR it's time to be very suspicious

because anyone trying to sell you such a retread story is likely something like an ex-con trying to sell you a used car

Or zit face has never been outside of Fairfax to see how shitty schools are in Shortpump, or Carolina, or the deep south, or the southwest where the soda drinking globes they call children can barely spell their names let alone take college courses in highschool.

Or dumbshit has never been outside of Fairfax to see that 4 of the top 10 schools are in TX. 3 in AZ. 1 each in GA, SC, and VA.

We good because we say we good. The best schools do not even try to compete and send in no information. they prefer not to be on the list.
