None of those rankings matter. When universities are accepting students, they aren't comparing the ranking of the school, they are comparing your ranking to other students in the school you are enrolled in. Personally a person would stand a better chance getting into their dream school going to Mount Vernon instead of Woodson.

Nice try, but no.

Go to school with kids heading to Mount Vernon and the curriculum will have been dumbed down at every level. By the time your kid applies to college. he won't be remotely competitive with a Woodson kid, because the Mount Vernon teachers amd administrators will have spent 99% of their time trying to teach English to immigrants from El Salvador and Honduras, and trying to get the Route 1 kids to graduate.

Meanwhile, the Woodson kids will be taking AP courses and acing their SATs, and their counselors will have enough time to to write them a solid college recommendation, because they won't have to worry whether the school is still accredited the next year.

So where does Mount Vernon fall? How about Stuart, Lee, Edison or Hayfield? Is anyone concerned about the fact that Annandale is dropping fast since the redistricting?

Mount vernon can't blame the ESL population for their failures. The ESL Population at that isn't that high. so most of the students doing bad at that schools are niggas and legal spics and rednecks

FAIRFAX IS IN THE TOP 10

GO REBEL PRIDE!!!!

Mount Vernon was the first school in the county to take dive. By the late 80s it was getting real bad.

In the 90s and 21st century its gotten worse at MVHS, that part of the county was primarily built right after WWII, its more affordable, not as clean area...Route 1 is a shitty area, some gangs, high illegal concentration...

Annandale got screwed by its redistricting, I cant believe they switched a 90% white neighborhood to an even whiter school, its usually vice versa. The whole "celebrate diversity" tone at Annandale doesnt help the school.

Take a gander at the the top 10 schools demographics, a large population of those schools have the majority being white and asian, its the facts folks.

Fairfax benefitted well from it's redistricting, Fairfax Villa burdened the school with Section 8 housing and a trailer park, the Villa neighborhood ain't so hot either..

Woodson basically pulls from a large white enclave.

So does Oakton, and the others etc.

Ask MVHS about the program I put on. I consult to schools, companies, sports teams and the government. I rock. I train horses. I live on a ranch.

Just, whatever you do, don't ask me about my background. Also, don't ask me about my name. It wasn't my idea.

Happy Trails

If only the sentence were complete: "(Insert name of school) is the (# insert rank) of the number of schools in (Virginia/nation) based on only one criteria, the number of students enrolled in AP/IB courses who manage to get a 3 or above which according to ETS and Jay Mathews is an indicator of college readiness.

A mouthful, but accurate.

I remember the good ole days of MVHS back in the late '70's and early '80's. MV was the school to be at. Route 1 was a great place to hang around.

Now whenever I have to go to that area it is just a shithole!

Ask us what ESL was back then and we would be staring at you like, "WTF" are you talking about?

Just proves what low class people do to an area.

Mt V and Ft Hunt were amongst the best back in the day, 70's.

lots of military families, was rumored that Ft Hunt had more kids at military academies than any other public high school in the country.

Ivies, Stanford, etc were regular destinations for these kids...great sports, band, debate...all around great places.

What is the top-ranked, majority black high school in the country, and how does it compare to the Primate House at the National Zoo?

No reason to give the schools that much credit. This area is one of the most affluent and highly educated in the country. If the schools can't educated these kids - heaven help them.

The school system in Fairfax has a great reputation. I have met clients that have relocated to this area because of the schools. I think the whole region has a great system due to the quality of education and background that many of the teachers and the students have. Loudoun County is also very good.

Being the "best schools" in a the shitty education state of VA doesn't mean much.

Even seen schools in western Virginia. Lucky if the kids can read and graduate high school.
