In the past year 3 of my different doctors have closed their independent practices and all moved to Inova. What gives?

Obamacare. Increased regulatory burden pushes independent practitioners/small groups to join up with hospitals, who are able to manage the paperwork better.

If I can't say a doctor name, not using him/her.

I concur with Former Student in that current government regulations make maintaining a private practice nearly impossible. The cost of carrying malpractice insurance is astronomical and to employ competent staff, both administrative and medical, is a complete drain on any doctor's budget. Issues such as litigation, scheduling, billing, etc., that have nothing to do with actually practicing medicine make having an organization like INOVA behind you a deal nearly impossible to refuse. That all visits, even phone inquiries, are to be logged and tracked electronically make real time with patients almost an afterthought for doctors. It is an unfortunate trend.

My doc kept his practice but charges a high membership fee. Thanks liberal dumbasses, here takes some more.

So are they doing this to make it easy to control the doctors? Seems to me since they have banned the construction of doctor owned hospitals then the hospitals have the monopoly. And form healthcare groups like Inova that then collect up all the doctors pushed out of independent business. And since the hospitals are heavily regulated and receive funds from the feds, they are beholden to HHS and can force doctors to execute ACA's mandates. Centralized healthcare without having to call it what it really is.

Insurers have been cutting back on the doctors in their network.

The regulatory burden of Obamacare and added Medicare/Medicaid regulations have made it very difficult for doctors to maintain an individual practice.
