Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Marks-up FY 2016 Budget—Fails to Fully Fund FCPS
Posted by: FCPS School Board ()
Date: April 23, 2015 02:08AM

Actual press release from FCPS:

On Tuesday, April 21, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (BOS) “marked-up” the County’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Budget. This meeting finalizes recommendations of any changes to the FY 2016 budget prior to the Board's final passage on April 28.

Unfortunately, the County BOS mark-up did not fully fund the FCPS 2015-16 (FY 2016) budget request, leaving a deficit of approximately $8 million.

During its May meetings, the Fairfax County School Board will determine how to address this shortfall in funding.

The Fairfax County School Board has adopted the FY 2016 Advertised Budget of $2.6 billion, a net increase of 2.6 percent, or $64 million, from the FY 2015 Approved Budget.

The FY 2016 budget includes resources for full-day Mondays in the elementary schools, the implementation of later high school start times, and a step increase for eligible employees and a one percent market scale adjustment for all employees.

Solution: Don't change high school start times and you have a balanced budget.

Now that would be hitting the Easy button.

Officially the shortfall has now been corrected. All FCPS trips to Orlando, Las Vegas, and New York for "training" have been cancelled.

Easy, all FCPS has to do is let Boosterthon run loose to raise the missing funds. Along the way, the kids will learn how to rush a frat or sorority, be entitled and work in a call center.

Some lucky schools will get in-person visits from Chris Carneal, who wants to be a televangelist when he grows up. Other schools may get a visit from Brett Trapp. Trap is a wonderful role model, it took him 5 years to get a degree in English. This is because his school years were dominated by his membership in Alpha Tau Omega. In fact, after leaving school, his life has been dominated by his efforts to return to those days.

Eliminate ESOL. Over 36,000 students are enrolled, that would save about 120 million. Make 'em learn it on their own dime instead of the taxpayers. Also require students to speak English before enrolling in any school, further reducing costs and mayhem.

They just canceled all trips to California and Chicago, also.

Vote them all out-every single last one of them. Let them take their pay raises, library closures, excessive school expenditures, egotistical buildings, trolley cars, and turf field task forces and go somewhere else.

Sharon Bulova is the worst.
