Soylent Green - LIVE at JamminJava May 8

Soylent Green is made of 100% free-range people with no artificial ingredients.

One of DMV's Dag-Nastiest, Hard-Core, Underground Punk-Rock bands has been located, restored to its original luster and will be performing live at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA on Friday night, May 8.

http://www.jamminjava.com/event/839955

If you were around the DC area during the Decade of Punk (1979-1989) and the Revolution Summer (1985), then this show is for you.

Soylent Green was formed in the early 90's in the Washington, DC metro area by Bass Player/Singer/Songwriter, Skeeter Thompson (of the punk band Scream) after Dave Grohl went on to play drums for Nirvana. By '91 the DC Punk Rock scene had begun to give way to the new sounds of grunge. Soylent Green was formed out of a puree of body parts and band members from around the DC area.

HEALTH WARNING:

The Surgeon General has determined that the audio carnage you're going to witness may be hazardous to your cognitive brain function and overall mental and physical health!

Common side effects are as follows, but not limited to:
Heavy Drinking, Smoking, Dizziness, Red Eyes, Head Rushes, Bouts of Vertigo, Fainting, frequent un-controllable Fist-Pumping, Booty-Shaking, outbursts of "Get up off your Ass!", "Get a life!", "Get a Job!" (and other turrets like symptoms), the occasional desire to start a Mosh Pit in an elevator of white collared strangers and sleepless nights.

Enjoy at your own risk!

Soylent Green is currently comprised of: Skeeter Thompson (Lead Vocals and Bass Guitar) Mike Wilkenson (Lead Guitar
and Backing Vocals) Sean Cranford (Duel Lead, Rythum Guitar, Bass and Backing Vocals) and Eddie Keafer (Drums) who
draw from a variety of musical genres from Classic and Hard Rock to Punk, Funk and Blues...

Mmmmmmmm. I bet Skeeter, Mike, Sean and Eddie taste good.

Won't make the show, but I like your ID for FFU. Is it after the Eskimo Nells that used to be in Clarendon or Ballston (or somewhere around there)?

Yes Root Boy, it is indeed a tribute to one of the many vanished haunts that were once part of the flavor of NoVA. Too bad you won't be making it out to the show on the 8th. Maybe next time.

You know Root Boy, there are a lot of people on here, and in the area that appreciate your particular brand of music/satire/comedy. There's a great thread here on FFU that usually pops up around your birthday each year. Its pretty enlightening. I wish Wingnut was around. He could help on this.

Do one of you fine FFU patrons happen to know where Root Boy here can find that thread on Root Boy Slim?

Dave Grohl turned from anti-conformist punk to corporate rocker. Just like the Pistols, The Clash, Green Day and everyone else.

Up until a few weeks ago, I would have disgreed with you. I saw PAIN! at Empire, and they took me back to the old days of '80s harDCore.

A few days later, I saw this post on their Facebook:

"PAIN! opens up this killer local rock fest as they shoot more footage for their new music videos for the upcoming album as well as their new sponsorship with COLDCOCK Whiskey!"

Yeah, corporate sponsorship.... that's punk.
