Knife stores?

Are there any good knife stores in the area? Or stores with a good selection of knives? Not chef knives, but everyday/utility kind of knives. Brands like Gerber, Kershaw, Benchmade, CRKT, etc. I remember there being a store in Springfield Mall that was pretty much just knives/swords and crap like that, but they closed a while ago.

Preferably someplace close to Alexandria.

Chesepeke knife and tool used to be in a few on the local malls, but have been closed for some time. if you want a decent collection of Benchmade knives try going to one of the local gun shops, especially VA Arms in Manassas. The other alternative is to shop online, where most knives are cheaper anyways.

Go to Virginia Arms in Manassas. It's a gun store but they have a good knife selection.

If I'm looking for something in particular, I'll try and find it in a store
for some "hands on" then order it from here:

Ranger Surplus certainly has a wide selection but their higher-end
knives are quite expensive. Again, this is a place I like to visit
for "hands on" but then order it over the Internet and save a bundle.

I really get a charge out of some of the knives and swords advertised
in the catalogs I receive in the mail. Sometimes JUNK is the
name of the game. A friend who works for the CIA took a lot of ribbing
when this one came out. Just imagine an agency analyst walking around
with one of these shoved down his pants.

Well, then you're a jackass. If everybody does that, there will be no stores.

No, he's a frugal shopper in a free market. Not his fault the businesses do this to themselves. If ranger were smart, they would pricematch for a small percentage over the online competition's price + shipping. I've never understood why storefront retail continues to operate as if the net doesn't exist.

Because it's utterly impossible for a bricks-and-mortar retailer to match the prices of Internet dealers. The websites don't have to rent expensive storefront space and pay salesmen to show things to people and clerks to ring up purchases. If you're talking about a large manufacturers, it's the cost of running HUNDREDS of stores versus a handful of employees filling lots of orders from a warehouse.
