This is a 7-11 thing, CVS, Muslim thing they say instead of thank you. Esl training? Gerry would know the answer, he is a 7-11 expert.

I am sure that this is just an attempt to assimilate into the American culture. Everyone always jabs at those that make no such attempts so I find it regrettable that these feeble efforts are made fun of. I suggest you smile and then offer them some additional guidance for acceptable small talk in the US.
