I'm not sure I understand your point, OP...Is there another fire truck manufactured today that can do what this truck does for less? (Honestly, I don't know shit about fire trucks. But you can't ridicule an expenditure without also providing a cheaper alternative that provides the same features and benefits..)

Why is the New York fire department known as "FDNY" but the police department is know as "NYPD"? That is what I really want to know.

Of course not. Terrorists need dependable transportation too! The conditions they operate under would destroy an American made vehicle in weeks.

Really? Because I think FFX County is lacking in the "tallest building" category. Please provide examples of buildings in FFX Cty that are anywhere near the height of buildings in Philly, Seattle, San Fran, New York, Chicago, etc.

I've wondered that too. I bet it's something as prosaic as "because they just happened to pick those names", but it's probably a good thing: otherwise they'd be one letter apart and easily confused in writing.

That's why I always buy Toyotas. Any vehicle that can survive towel head drivers, bombs, IED's, and bullets is good enough for me.

The next 25 people to comment on FFXU could have full access to that equipment. But if they didn't have the knowhow to use it, it wouldn't do the million of us in this county any good.

Nice equipment and it is needed. The only problem I have with the tiller trucks is that all Fairfax firefighters are fapping all over the tiller trucks. They are a bunch of wackers.

probably less for the fire truck. Remember we have to pay to rebuild the road after we reduce the Toyota to a grease spot.

Republicans told me we do not need government so why have a fire department at all? Its just taking money from wealthy tax payers. Oh and guess what, they save poor people who have not paid as much in taxes for the truck as our Creators have so once again the hard working wealthy people are paying the ticket for freeloading middle class freeloaders being saved.

There you go confusing Republicans with anarchists again. When are you going to learn the difference? Were you awake in high school government class?

The list of Rebublican representatives (233) and 41 Republican Senators that signed the 'no tax pledge' Guess they forgot to study difference between anarchists and Republicans as well...

You're confusing no tax increases with out of control spending with no accountability. You have a lot of homework to do.

yes but the only real fires starting are all in mexican neighborhoods

a fx co firefighter told me %98 of time, false alarm, %99 time no one in a house that was burning - very rare he said he never or only 1x after many years of service was at a burning home where anyone was inside.

NOT RARE ANYMORE- people are dying left and right in apt. fires in fx co in the 2000's. but why the change in danger ? it is real ?

what does that say ?

Roanoke City’s new ladder truck No. 1 saw its first big fire Saturday night along with the three other Roanoke City Fire Department ladder trucks. The almost $1 million dollar beauty came out of its first battle unscathed but it wasn’t so lucky the night of the big storm that was dubbed a derecho.

Roanoke VA got theirs for < $1 million, fx co va and palo alto CA said $1.2 million

you havent started on ...

EMT (ambulance)

new communications and computer IT sales to FDs

other response equipment (ie, scuba diving)

helicopters

BUILDINGs - water pumps alarms in (public) buildings

and all of it is incompatible probably - there are, ie, 1,000s of different alarm electronic boards and each requires "compatible heads" with itself

ad infinitum. a 5x - 10x increase in truck price is only the tip of an ice-berg

if a town has a certain number of tall buildings (without certain costly firefighting equipment installed in the building) , or has tall manufacturing structures that tend to catch fire

the fire dept is required to have a ladder tall enough

OR close the building due to not meeting fire code

Fairfax County is able to negotiate "proffers" from the developers to help offset the cost of the new development. Those proffers are frequently in the form of cash, land, and other donations to the county to cover such needs as parks, schools, and fire & rescue.

I doubt that Fairfax taxpayers payed for this new fire truck at all; having a truck like this is "caused" by the high rise zoning, and the trucks are payed for by the developers themselves.

Wow you really don't have a clue, the long and short is that the new chief was with Montgomery County where they have this style of ladder truck so he wanted them here. Just pay your taxes because the developers you spoke of don't pay for fire trucks

You are a fuckin moron. You have to have the extra long ladder truck for buildings taller than 200' of which there are many coming in Reston and Tysons. Shut the fuck up, you don't even live here anyways.

No where in the state fire prevention code does it say that there needs to be longer fire ladders for taller Buildings.

Those ladder trucks are no longer than 100'

Which means you can reach about 60/70 from the ground. Anything beyond that and you're gonna burn to death.

And now...NOW we are getting to the heart of the matter!

How about NOT building 200' tall buildings which require special and expensive fire trucks? I'm not saying everything has to be 2-story construction but, we don't need big buildings here. We don't. This isn't Manhattan.

The FAA has jurisdiction over height of buildings in the region.
The pulled the trucks off of Mount. Trash at Fair Oaks.

Wrong. If you still own anything, you haven't yet paid your share. All property belongs to the people (with us lib politicians as "caretakers"). Pay up!

If you have kids, you are robbing the system, so shut the fuck up. Commercial taxes is the only reason Fairfax isn't PG County. You got proven wrong, and also the person who mentioned the proffers is correct, in Tysons the fire stations and truck purchases are funded by the same commercial land owners you are whining about. Go back shortpump you dumb fuck redneck douche.

Oh, man...we know. We ALL know. So much butt-hurt here...

See, the thing is? I absolutely DO realize that tall buildings pay tall taxes. Especially like the Springfield Tower at 6320 Augusta Drive in Springfield. Yup...decades and decades of 100% occupancy. Why...that place is a goddamn GOLD MINE of tax dollars! Wait...wut? It only has a barber shop and a non-denominational church now? And it's been this way for how long?

Why build tall buildings that collect exponentially more taxes which just cause you to have to shell out millions for expensive, seldom-used, specialty fire fighting trucks when you could go with a smaller building, smaller tax base and NO expensive fire trucks? You conservatives think running a government is all about how much taxes you're collecting...it's not. It's about WHAT you spend said collected taxes on once you've collected taxes. There's two sides to the balance sheet, muffakahs!

wrong. on 100' or so buildings that do not meet code would require the purchase of a ladder truck. SUCH AS - A WALMART OR OTHER COMMERCIAL SITE USING MEXICANS TO BUILD BUILDINGS CHEAP AS CRAP

but THIS laddertruck is 10x the price of a normal one. it is a SPECIAL NEED truck. is it's latter 10' longer?

look it's pretty obvious: the only real reason here of a 2x-10x price increase isn't the buildings that met code. it's the county getting money in their back pocket for making the purchase. and keep in mind the loan - it is borrowed money - came from NY or NJ who actually don't have the money. but who are installing figures in other states and counties to make sure the loan houses are getting more loans - to cover the fact it's a pyramid scheme is my guess

does ny,ny have ladder trucks with 10,000 ft ladders? no. without going into details: there's a reason. and one reason is: the buildings have proper fire arresting equipment inside them.

it's probalby true the benefactor of a super ladder truck is spic constructin and wal mart.

however that would be blind to the fact: it is just another crooked government aquisition office

It's occupied. Occupied by classified agencies. Shut your mouth and get back to work. Sheep have no say in spending.

Lol 10,000 foot ladder. Fuckin goober. New York City has even bigger ladder trucks than the one you are bitching about by the way, more expensive too. Dumb fuck.

these two beauties are claiming they had a nice campfire (at the beach i assume)

however their boyfriends are probalby cops hoping to give out very expensive tickets

or live in an area were "exceptions are made for the rich"

in the 90's democrats everywhere made laws against having "non gov run campfires on beaches - and no beach parties at night"

today, in a police world - were police are always looking for a reason to ticket ,

there is no such thing as "a beach bon fire"
