Arrest Warrant Message - Scam?

Received an automated call last night from a number in Massachusetts (508 area code) on my cell phone stating that there was an arrest warrant under my name and that I should call an attorney in California to get this resolved.

This is a scam, right? I know that people are getting similar calls about owing the IRS money and being asked to send funds via Western Union.

There is this neat website called Google.com Go there and type "arrest warrant scam" you will find that yes indeed it is a scam. For future reference it is more informative than this site.

OK, PROBABLY a scam. But, you can call the police in that area and see if they really do have a warrant. I had this happen with a police officer and a former client of mine faking that I had a warrant in Leesburg or Loudon County. I just called and asked if there was a warrant.

In my case, there was no warrant, but I was told the calls come from random numbers because the officers block their caller-ID. But I Googled the PD they claimed I had the warrant in and called them directly, not the weird number from the person who called me.

If you do not know you are a wanted criminal, then you should go to jail because who has no idea they are criminal or is it not illegal to so stupid? I do not know the law on stupid, you should talk to a lawyer about that.
