Does Terry McAuliffe use the EB-5 US Visa program to give a leg up to rich Asian families who want their kids to attend TJ?
Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, whom President Obama promoted even while he was under investigation, meddled in several cases, creating “an appearance of favoritism and special access,” the department’s inspector general said in a 99-page report that stops just short of accusing Mr. Mayorkas of lying.
The program has grown under President Obama, with initial applications rising from about 1,000 petitions a year when he took office to nearly 11,000 petitions in fiscal year 2014. The program approves about 75 percent of initial applications.
Critics say the program is rife with fraud and amounts to allowing the wealthy to buy their way into the U.S.
Investors must make capital investments of at least $500,000 and must prove their money will create or sustain at least 10 jobs. That means USCIS officers have to evaluate complex business transactions to make judgments.
Once in the US, these wealthy investors have access to the best test prep and TJ admissions coaches.
The case with Mr. McAuliffe involved an electric car project that he led, but which USCIS officers thought was bogus. They recommended denying EB-5 investor applications related to the project.
That was when Mr. McAuliffe began contacting Mr. Mayorkas, and he took an intense personal interest in the case, exchanging calls and emails with Mr. McAuliffe and his investment firm, investigators said.
Mr. Roth said Mr. McAuliffe and a number of other potential witnesses refused to speak to investigators, which hampered their ability to figure out exactly what went on.
Mr. McAuliffe’s office didn’t respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

My daughter attended those Asian-centric classes. Amazing how much information they have on how to successfully navigate the TJ admissions process. Super expensive. This group had an 80% success rate, though my daughter was not one of the winners. Doing very well in FCPS though.

McAuliffe defended himself on the radio today by basically saying everyone does it, no big deal, and he should be applauded for intervening on behalf of one Chinese guy who gave his company $500,000, because the process was taking too long.
“This guy took calls from everybody, I never knew the guy beforehand,” McAuliffe said, referring to Mayorkas.

paying customers are always welcome and treated well to come back again!
however. first make sure their cash isn't purely printed as debt in their own country - that it's payment not some government exchange where both parties are paid gov political families.
if they are. shoot and ask questions later !
